The Role

As a COBOL Mainframe Application Developer, you will work directly with client personnel as a consultant to support development on their existing Payroll (Autopay) software system. You will create and use programming specs to build assigned components, ensuring these components are properly documented, unit tested, and ready for integration. You will fix defects found during pre- and post-production and provide work estimates for development tasks.

Daytime Monday to Friday working hours required are 8:30am-5:30pm USA Eastern Time. 24/7 on-call support rotation and weekend implementations support are also required.
 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Analyze, design, develop, test and deploy code on a mainframe platform (z/OS) based upon user specifications.
• Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications and programming solutions.
• Provide technical assistance in solving hardware or software problems.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all development processes, including specifications, design, and user guides.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior developers, sharing knowledge and best practices in mainframe development.
• Ensure proper change management for all requested changes, fixes and enhancements to production applications.
• 24 X 7 on-call support rotation is required.
• Night and weekend Production/QA Support.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Experience with COBOL programming; proficiency in COBOL programming in an IBM z/OS mainframe environment.

• Experience with Payroll concepts (Autopay experience a bonus)

• Experience in mainframe technologies, including COBOL, Assembler, DB2, CICS VSAM, FTP, MQ and Changeman.

• Production Support experience including break-fix support and permanent fixes in production.

• Development lifecycle experience, from Developing to System Test to UAT to Production.

• Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).

• English - Advanced.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a "related field".

Preferred Skills and Experience

• SaaS application implementation experience: (Oracle E-Business Suite, NetSuite, Infor, Unit 4, PeopleSoft, Oracle Cloud ERP, SAP, Lawson, etc.) . 

• Application modernization tools, e.g. CAST. 

• Experience in using and implementing DevSecOps processes. 

• Past experience in assisting stakeholders in quantifying risks and developing mitigation and remediation strategies.

• Spanish - Advanced.
