Position Summary
Murphy Machine Products (MMP) is seeking a CNC Swiss Setup Technician for our Wood Dale, IL location. The CNC Swiss Setup Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and accurate production of precision parts. This position requires a strong understanding of CNC Swiss machines, a commitment to quality, and exceptional troubleshooting skills. The primary responsibility is to set up and operate CNC Swiss machines to produce high-quality parts that meet or exceed customer specifications. *This position works a schedule of Monday thru Thursday from 6:00am-4:30pm (OR) Monday thru Friday from 6:00am-2:30pm. The pay range for this role is between $26.00-$32.00/hr. depending on experience*
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Setup CNC Swiss following SMED processes.
- STAR SR20RII, SR20RIII, SR20J, SR32J, SR38 and CITIZEN M32
- Troubleshoot machine and program issues.
- Update work instructions to current tooling.
- Produce and measure parts per blueprint following Quality Plans.
- Work with operators when handing off machine
- Ensure a safe work environment is maintained, appropriate safety systems/processes are utilized, and ensure compliance with all OSHA and other state/federal safety and environmental related rules and regulations.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
- Proven experience in CNC Swiss machine setup and operation.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming and machine controls.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments and quality control techniques.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of GD&T.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to program CNC Swiss machines using CAM software (Park Maker).
- Able to operate a manual CMM.
- Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
