Position Title: CNC Machinist
Department: Mill
Reports To: Machinist Lead
Scope/Responsibility/Authority:
- Demonstrate ability to prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machine
- Demonstrate ability to check and change parts on fixture and vice
- Demonstrate ability to oversee the machines while they execute the tasks
- Demonstrate ability to preform Blueprint math: stacked tolerance, edge distance
- Demonstrate ability to follow procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to following work instructions and select proper tools
- Demonstrate ability to use precision measuring devices
- Demonstrate ability to make tool offset changes to meet tolerance of part feature
- Demonstrate ability to perform various CNC machining operations on CNC mill and lathe.
- Demonstrate ability to use skills to support equipment such as, Bridgeport mill, manual lathe and grinders as required.
- Demonstrate ability to utilize general knowledge and understanding of CAD/CAM systems
- Demonstrate ability to Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product
- Demonstrate ability to update and follow setup sheet
- Demonstrate ability to set up the Mill attachments such as 4th and 5th axis
- Demonstrate ability to do mathematical calculations related to SFPM, RPM, Feed Rates and chip load.
- Demonstrate ability to program simple parts
- Demonstrate knowledge of G&M code
- Demonstrate ability to take direction from journeyman and leads,
- Demonstrate ability to work with and mentor operators
- Perform any other duties as required by the organization.
Qualification Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Skills:
- Mechanically inclined.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn CAD/CAM programs.
- Safety conscious.
Experience:
- 2-6 years past experience in machining processes.
- Past experience in Solidworks and CAMworks is a plus
Training: CNC and Solid Works/CAMWorks programming as required.
