Position Summary
As a CMS Developer - WordPress, you will be responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining WordPress-based websites and applications for our clients. You will work closely with designers, project managers, and fellow developers to deliver reliable, performant, and user-friendly solutions.

This is a mid-level role for a developer who is comfortable owning features and implementations, understands WordPress best practices, and is motivated to continue growing their technical depth while contributing to high-quality client outcomes. You are passionate about understanding the business context for features built to drive better customer experience and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress themes and plugins in accordance with established coding standards and best practices.
  • Translate design concepts and business requirements into functional, responsive WordPress solutions.
  • Build and maintain custom WordPress functionality using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Work effectively with WordPress in containerized environments (Docker).
  • Ensure performance, security, accessibility, and scalability across all WordPress implementations.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in both development and production environments.
  • Integrate WordPress sites with third-party tools, APIs, and services as needed.
  • Optimize websites and CMS systems for performance, speed, and scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and other developers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared development standards and documentation.
  • Communicate technical considerations, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work with stakeholders across marketing, sales, and customer service to gather requirements.
  • Support ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and updates for existing client websites.
  • Comply with coding standards and technical design through clear documentation.
  • Ensure unit and integration level verification plans are in place and adhere to high-quality code standards at all times.
  • Actively participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and updating current live systems.
  • Verify user feedback in making systems more stable and easy to use.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript & React.
  • Experience building and maintaining custom WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Working knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB and WordPress data structures.
  • Experience working with WordPress in containerized environments (Docker).
  • Experience with page builders such as Gutenberg, Elementor, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with responsive design, accessibility standards, and performance optimization.
  • Experience working across the full development lifecycle, from requirements through deployment.
  • Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledgeable in data structures and algorithms.
  • Ability to interpret wireframes and mockups.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice to have:

  • HubSpot knowledge and certifications (HubSpot CMS, HubSpot APIs, platform capabilities).
  • Experience with the Hubl language for HubSpot development.
  • Current HubSpot certification(s).
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and third-party integrations.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and site performance optimization.
  • Prior experience in an agency or client-facing development environment.
  • Exposure to cloud-based hosting environments or managed WordPress platforms (AWS, Azure, Google, OpenStack).
  • Experience with front-end frameworks like React or Vue.
  • Strong understanding of PHP frameworks, with a focus on Laravel.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital marketing principles.
  • Understanding of UX/UI design principles.
  • Experience with open-source projects.
  • Experience in designing interactive applications.
  • Experience integrating with Marketing Technology solutions.
