Summary/Overview:

KBRA (Kroll Bond Rating Agency, LLC) is seeking an Associate or an Associate Director to join our Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) Surveillance team in our Pennsylvania office.

The team monitors a universe of over $500 billion in securitizations spanning CMBS, commercial real estate collateralized loan obligations (CRE CLOs), Agency and single-family rental asset classes, among others. Our primary objective is to maintain high quality credit ratings in a timely manner and in accordance with our methodologies, which involves conducting property cash flow and valuation; pool-level and structure analysis; and publishing our viewpoints based on our research and analysis. Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end surveillance of an assigned portfolio of CMBS transactions in accordance with organizational guidelines, including the preparation and presentation of analyses to committees and the publication of transaction reports. Transaction types may include conduit, agency, single borrower, large loan, CRE CLO, and/or small balance CMBS.
  • Develop detailed cash flow analysis for commercial real estate properties.  Perform pool-level analysis in collaboration with the analytics team to develop and present credit opinions on assigned transactions. Prepare detailed surveillance reports for publication.
  • Help with various deal management tasks to ensure an efficient and effective group workflow.
  • Stay abreast of CRE markets and trends as well as the general economic and capital market conditions.
  • Actively participate in CRE credit discussion and rating decision.
  • Participate in producing topical research and commentary on credit or marketplace trends and market events.
  • Participate in workplace projects as needed to increase efficiency.

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • A minimum of three (3) or more years of business experience preferably within Financial Services.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are essential.
  • Two (2) or more years of relevant Commercial Real Estate, Rating Agency, or CMBS experience required for an Associate.
  • Four (4) or more years of relevant Commercial Real Estate, Rating Agency, or CMBS experience required for an Associate Director
  • Knowledgeable about structured finance principals is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commercial Real Estate is required.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office with strengths in Excel and Word.
  • SQL and other database query experience is most helpful.
  • Familiarity with the CREFC Investor Reporting Package is desired.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and work closely with fellow team members in a collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT for research, data insights, and general productivity is a plus.

Salary Range:

The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 to $130,000. Offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, skills, geography, and other job-related factors.
