Summary:
As a Cloud Systems Architect, you are the visionary behind the digital infrastructure that powers our nation’s security. We are looking for a high-level strategist who can transform mission requirements into secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures. You won’t just be managing servers; you’ll be designing the future of cloud-native environments, ensuring that every component is optimized for performance and mission success.
This role will support and represent LufCo with our industry partners within the Ft. Meade market. At LufCo, you’ll do more than fill a role—you’ll help build what’s next. Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Design: Lead the design and implementation of complex, large-scale cloud architectures within AWS, ensuring they meet rigorous mission and security standards.
- Strategic Migration: Architect and oversee the transition of legacy on-premises systems to cloud-native environments, utilizing best practices for refactoring and re-platforming.
- Cloud Governance: Define and implement cloud strategies including cost optimization, resource scaling, and automated security compliance.
- Innovation & Research: Stay at the forefront of emerging AWS services and cloud technologies, evaluating and integrating new tools to keep mission capabilities cutting-edge.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as the subject matter expert for cloud systems, providing mentorship to engineering teams and guiding technical decision-making for senior stakeholders.
Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Computer Science, System Engineering, or a related discipline with 9+ years of professional experience.
OR
- 13+ years of professional experience in systems architecture or engineering in lieu of a degree.
Technical Skills: AWS Expertise: Extensive, hands-on experience designing and managing AWS Managed Services (including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and VPC).
- Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Security: Deep understanding of cloud security frameworks, identity management (IAM), and implementing STIGs in a cloud environment.
- Networking: Strong knowledge of cloud networking, including hybrid-cloud connectivity and load balancing.
Physical Requirements: Ability to travel as required.
- Standard office environment with occasional visits to client sites or labs.
