Hyper-V expert with VMware to Hyper-V migration Job Summary: We are looking for a Hyper-V Expert with deep expertise in Microsoft virtualization technologies to lead and support the migration from VMware to Hyper-V. This role also includes providing ongoing operational support for our Hyper-V environment, ensuring system stability, performance, and high availability across the virtualized infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on expert with strong troubleshooting skills and experience in enterprise-level virtualization and migration projects. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: • Lead and perform the end-to-end migration of virtual workloads from VMware to Hyper-V, along with planning, execution, and validation. • Design, build, and maintain Microsoft Hyper-V clusters in a high-availability, production-grade environment. • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system configurations, migration plans, and SOPs. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze existing VMware workloads and determine optimal migration paths and tooling. • Provide daily operational support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Hyper-V infrastructure. • Optimize virtual machine performance, capacity, and scalability based on workload needs. • Perform system upgrades, patching, and configuration changes with minimal downtime. • Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity strategies for Hyper-V environments. • Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell and other tools. • Evaluate new virtualization technologies, tools, and industry trends. Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of hands-on experience in virtualization, with a strong focus on Microsoft Hyper-V in enterprise environments. • Proven experience migrating workloads from VMware to Hyper-V, including tooling, processes, and challenges. • Expertise in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Hyper-V clustering, and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM). • Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation and reporting. • Knowledge of storage systems (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, SMB) and networking (virtual switches, VLANs, NIC teaming). • Experience with backup and replication tools (e.g., Commvault for virtual environments. • Familiarity with monitoring tools and performance tuning in Hyper-V environments. • Microsoft certifications such as MCSE: Core Infrastructure, Azure Administrator Associate, or Hyper-V Specialist. • Experience with Azure Stack HCI or hybrid cloud environments • Familiarity with VMware environments including vCenter, ESXi, and vSphere. • Experience with scripting or orchestration platforms (e.g., Ansible, System Center Orchestrator) will be added advantage. • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset. • Comfortable working independently or in a collaborative team environment. ________________________________________ Soft Skills: • Excellent communication and documentation skills. • Ability to lead migration efforts and provide technical mentorship to junior team members. • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset. • Comfortable working independently or in a collaborative team environment.15 years full time education
