Beyond day-to-day engineering, this role will help drive infrastructure modernization, automation, operational improvement, and complex technology projects. The position requires someone who can move comfortably between hands-on technical engineering, architecture discussions, project execution, data analysis, and executive-level communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across Windows and Linux environments, servers, storage, networking, databases, and application infrastructure.
  • Evaluate infrastructure architecture and recommend solutions that improve scalability, resilience, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Support hybrid-cloud integration and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

Systems & Application Platforms

  • Provide hands-on expertise across enterprise web and application platforms, including IIS, Tomcat, WebSphere, and similar technologies.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues across multiple technology layers.

  • Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
  • Drive initiatives that reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Research and evaluate emerging cloud and infrastructure technologies.

Project & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the technical execution of complex infrastructure and cloud projects from planning through implementation.
  • Manage milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and technical deliverables across multiple stakeholders.
  • Provide technical direction to engineering teams and contribute to architectural and technology decisions.
  • Influence teams and stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority.

Monitoring, Security & Operations

  • Leverage enterprise tools for infrastructure monitoring, security, vulnerability management, logging, analytics, and service management.
  • Experience with technologies such as Rapid7, CrowdStrike, Ivanti, Elasticsearch, Splunk, Dynatrace, Power BI, Jira, and ServiceNow is highly desirable.
  • Support ITIL-aligned operational processes and continuous service improvement.
  • Promote infrastructure security, availability, performance, and operational resilience.

Data & Reporting

  • Analyze infrastructure, cost, inventory, performance, capacity, risk, and operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations for technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Use advanced Excel and data analysis skills to reconcile information and support technology decisions.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with Architecture, Security, Applications, Development, Operations, and business teams.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts, project status, risks, recommendations, and business impacts.
  • Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to other engineers.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or related technology roles.
  • 8+ years of experience administering Windows and Linux environments.
  • 8+ years of experience configuring and supporting enterprise web/application server technologies such as IIS, Tomcat, WebSphere, or equivalent.
