Role Value Proposition:
The Cloud Business Office (CBO) serves as a centralized function responsible for value driven adoption of cloud at MetLife and ensures cloud is delivered consistently, efficiently, and effectively. We focus on adoption pipeline and planning, cloud onboarding, cloud economics, cost optimization (FinOps), effective governance of cloud, aligning adoption to our cloud strategy, and cloud platform product management.
The CBO is seeking a Service Consultant focusing on Cloud Economics and FinOps to join our team in Cary, NC. The successful candidate is well organized and an analytical thinker, who will identify opportunities and drive the resulting process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pipeline, Planning and Governance.
  • Create forward views of migrations, cloud adoption, & expense forecasts.
  • Cloud Business case validation and tracking.
  • Assist partners with creation of cloud estimates for large and complex projects.
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks associated with cloud usage, ensuring proactive measures to safeguard against unforeseen costs.
  • Cloud Economics/FinOps.
  • Drive Optimizations and FinOps Best Practices.
  • Implement and execute cost optimization strategies, including driving development teams to rightsize resources and properly tune PaaS services.
  • Produce and maintain regular reports on cloud costs and consumption.
  • Review financial performance (budget vs. forecast).
  • Create actionable plans to address gaps.
  • Gather and submit monthly evergreened forecast of cloud consumption.
  • Assist with development of future year financial plan.
  • Participate in MetLife's Global FinOps Council.


Partner Success:

  • Work with technology verticals and lines of business to understand the current user base, demands and requirements for cloud services.
  • Support development teams to accelerate cloud delivery and maturity while ensuring long-term success.
  • Promote and share relevant knowledge.
  • Identify opportunities for and implement process improvements.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or other related fields or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of general IT or IT related experience.
  • Experience with IT and technology products as related to infrastructure and cloud.
  • Strong research skills and an understanding of financial concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and nested formulas.
  • Able to perform data analysis, draw conclusions, and present recommendations.
  • Strong relationship building skills, and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.


Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of Azure and Azure products (Azure Fundamentals Certification AZ-900).
  • FinOps Practitioner Certification.
  • Experience working as or in an IT service provider.
  • Expert level Excel skills and/or Power BI experience strongly preferred.
  • Technology Product Management experience.
  • Experience with IT budget planning processes and chargeback methodologies.
  • Knowledge of SDLC methodologies.
  • Business acumen with broad exposure to business units.
