We are seeking a Cloud Container Orchestration Engineer to support a government customer under a BPA contract. This role focuses on designing, deploying, and managing containerized workloads using Amazon EKS, ECS, and related AWS services to support secure, scalable, and automated cloud environments. As a Cloud Container Orchestration Engineer, you will:
- Design and manage secure, scalable container orchestration platforms using Amazon EKS, ECS, and Fargate.
- Deploy microservices and application workloads across hybrid cloud environments with automated CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
- Develop Helm charts and Kubernetes manifests for containerized application provisioning and updates.
- Implement observability and logging strategies using CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Ensure compliance with FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53 requirements in multi-tenant Kubernetes environments.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform aligned with government system development and engineering standards.
- Support development and management of a self-service cloud portal with dynamic provisioning automation.
- Implement and manage DevSecOps pipelines to automate secure deployments of container-based workloads.
- Modernize cloud Concept of Operations (ConOps) documentation and operational workflows for container-based services.
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams to ensure container-based solutions meet system boundary and documentation requirements.
- Ensure integration of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles into container orchestration strategies.
- Participate in governance and process improvement initiatives including Configuration, Release, and Problem Management.
- Support the development of System Security Plans (SSPs), configuration management artifacts, and change control documentation for container-based workloads.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional IT experience working with cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- US Citizenship Required.
- 3+ years of experience in deploying and managing containerized workloads on AWS using Kubernetes, ECS, and related technologies, including experience with add-ons such as CoreDNS, kube-proxy, and VPC CNI.
- Proficient in authoring and managing Kubernetes manifests (Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress, CRDs)
- Hands-on experience with developing deployment and automation solutions using infrastructure as code tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation. Proficient with TypeScript, Python or other language to support automation requirements.
- Strong understanding of container networking, pod security policies, RBAC, and IAM integration as well as runtime/systems hardening.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and GitOps pipelines for automated container deployment. Able to leverage tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and FluxCD.
- Experience integrating secrets management tools such as AWS Secrets Manager, Sealed Secrets, or HashiCorp Vault
- Knowledge of federal compliance frameworks including FedRAMP, NIST RMF, and SSP documentation.
- Experience with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- Familiarity with tracing tools like Jaeger and AWS X-Ray.
- Experience supporting cloud monitoring integration with centralized dashboards (e.g., EOC/NOC/SOC alignment).
- Familiarity with automated tagging, cost tracking, and configuration management for container workloads.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
- Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift, Istio, Linkerd, or other enterprise container orchestration platforms.
- Experience with secure image registries, vulnerability scanning, and automated patching for container environments.
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud orchestration environments.
- Experience contributing to federal cloud ConOps documentation, governance reviews, and system architecture boards.
