Sports is looking for a Cloud Database Engineer who will be instrumental in optimizing our cloud-based database solutions hosted on AWS. This role is central to ensuring high performance, availability, and cost-effectiveness of our database operations supporting innovative applications. At PlayOn, we embrace a DevOps culture within our collaborative product-oriented delivery (POD) teams.</div><div><br></div><div>Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include:</div><div><br></div><div>• Design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions using AWS technologies such as RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and MySQL, and DocumentDB.</div><div>• Proactively monitor and maintain database performance through autoscaling, rightsizing, and optimization of parameter groups.</div><div>• Optimize cloud database costs, monitor cost anomalies, and collaborate with PODs to address them.</div><div>• Develop and implement database security measures and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.</div><div>• Collaborate closely with PODs to review and optimize SQL and NoSQL queries and schemas before production deployment.</div><div>• Participate in the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans, including regular data backups.</div><div>• Document and maintain comprehensive records of database architectures, configurations, and maintenance procedures.</div><div>• Stay current with the latest AWS services and database technologies to continuously improve system efficiency and performance.</div><div>• Develop Terraform project(s) to manage AWS database services and components (database, users, permissions, etc.).</div><div> </div><div><br></div><div><b><span >THE PERSON</span></b></div><div><br></div><div>• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.</div><div>• Solid experience with AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, DocumentDB) and database administration of MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.</div><div>• Experience in managing AWS database services and components (database, users, permissions, etc) using Terraform.</div><div>• Strong understanding of database design, implementation, and maintenance principles, with a keen focus on automation and optimization.</div><div>• Preferred Certification in AWS Database services.</div><div>• Preferred experience in managing large-scale databases in a cloud environment.</div><div>• Preferred proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation.</div><div>• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment within a DevOps culture.</div><div>• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.</div><div>• Commitment to ongoing professional development; previous certifications in AWS are highly desirable.</div><div><br></div><p><div><b >COMPANY OVERVIEW</b></div><div><span > </span></div><div>The future of high school athletics and activities is powered by PlayOn!
