Job Description:
Our Infrastructure Team is seeking a Cloud Architect based in Shanghai to lead the architectural design, governance, and operation of cutting-edge cloud strategies for our top-tier business operations.
In this role, you will report to CHK (China & Hong Kong) Infrastructure (Cloud) leader, work with a small group of tech elites to shape the future of our cloud ecosystem, ensuring alignment with global cloud strategy and CHK business objectives while driving innovation, cybersecurity, and cost efficiency across AWS, Azure and IDC platforms.
You will have responsibility for developing and executing CHK cloud strategies that empower our CHK operation. Your mission will include:
• Designing enterprise-grade cloud architectures that integrate compute, storage, networking, and cybersecurity services to meet the demands of a stably growing business.
• Building scalable frameworks for hybrid or multi-cloud environments, ensuring compliance, resilience, and seamless cross-regional collaboration.
• Partnering with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical blueprints, balancing innovation with operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities：
Enterprise Cloud Strategy & Architecture
• Define and govern the enterprise cloud architecture framework, ensuring alignment with corporate global IT strategy, security policies and compliance standards.
• Architect public/multi-cloud/hybrid solutions (AWS, Azure, AliCloud, etc.) that integrate compute, storage, networking, and cybersecurity services (e.g., VPC/Express Route, WAF, Kubernetes, IAM, PaaS/SaaS
solutions).
• Develop and maintain cloud adoption roadmaps, including migration strategies (rehost, refactor, replatform) and TCO/ROI analysis for cloud-native and hybrid workloads.
Operational Excellence & Troubleshooting:
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in diagnosing and resolving complex cloud infrastructure issues (e.g., IAM misconfigurations, storage performance bottlenecks) across multi-cloud/hybrid environments.
• Proficiency in using cloud-native monitoring and debugging tools (e.g., AWS CloudTrail, Azure Monitor, Prometheus) to perform root cause analysis (RCA) and optimize system reliability.
• Record of leading incident response efforts for critical outages, including post-mortem analysis, mitigation planning, and implementing preventive guardrails.
• Experience collaborating with Managed Service Provider to refine observability strategies, troubleshooting workflows, and enforce SLAs/SLOs.
Cross-Functional Governance & Delivery Excellence
• Collaborate with the global cloud governance team including FinOps practices, cost optimization strategies, and resource tagging policies.
• Cross-functional teams (Platform, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering) to deliver compliant, scalable infrastructure solutions with IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Engaging with the procurement team and venders to ensure contract continuity and addressing any issues or concerns, which is a critical function that requires a high level of trust and understanding of our internal processes.
• Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and post-implementation audits to ensure adherence to SLAs, SLOs and operational resilience.
Cloud Transformation
• Partner with the stakeholders to translate business objectives into technical cloud strategies, emphasizing innovation.
• Spearhead cloud center of excellence (CCOE) initiatives to standardize best practices, toolchains, and knowledge sharing across local and global teams.
• Evangelize DevSecOps culture by integrating security-by-design, automated compliance checks, and zero-trust architectures into cloud workflows.
Operational Optimization & Innovation
• Monitor and optimize cloud performance using observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch) to ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency.
• Mentor engineering and application teams on cloud-native design patterns, disaster recovery strategies (backup/DR), and greenfield/brownfield modernization.
• Developing and monitoring cloud vender performance improvement plans.
Executive-Level Communication:
• Demonstrated ability to articulate complex cloud architectures, trade-offs and business value to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives, regional business leaders, and external partners.
• Proven experience facilitating cross-functional workshops, negotiating technical requirements and driving consensus among geographically dispersed teams.
• Expertise in creating clear, audience-tailored deliverables such as architecture diagrams, executive briefings, and cost-benefit analyses.
Global Collaboration:
• This role works closely with the global Platform Engineering team to carry out global cloud strategy, meet cloud operation demands and budget management with high performance, ensuring operations are not
disrupted.
• Ability to navigate cultural nuances and time zones, ensuring inclusive communication and alignment across global teams.
• Fluency in English (written/spoken).
People, Vender and Budget Management:
• Mentor junior team members. Have potential capability for people management.
• Experience with vendor management and interactions.
• Involvement in cloud budget management and measurement, which is
crucial for maintaining steady cloud spending and execution.
Required competencies and skills
Technical Expertise & Experiences:
• Progressive cloud architecture experience in large-scale MNCs, including designing and building up blueprint base solutions on at least two Public CSP (AWS, Azure).
• Proven track record in leading enterprise cloud migrations, hybrid cloud integrations, and multi-region deployments.
• Strong analytical mindset with expertise in creating architecture decision records (ADRs), solution blueprints and risk mitigation plans.
• Expert hands-on experience of cloud-native services:
• Compute: ECS/EC2, Lambda/Serverless, Kubernetes (EKS/AKS).
• Storage: S3/EFS/EBS/OSS/Blob Storage
• Networking: VPC peering, CEN/Transit Gateway, DNS/Global Accelerator, K8S network, CDN
• Security: IAM policies, KMS, Secrets Manager, DDoS protection.
• Proficiency in IaC (Terraform, Ansible), DevOps toolchains (Jenkins, GitHub/GitLab) and observability platforms.
• Exceptional ability to communicate cross-functionally within a highly energetic team. Strong stakeholder engagement (internal and external) with the ability to influence.
• Excellent project management skills
• Excellent understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes (IM, CM, PM, SR, etc.)
• Understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks
• Comfortable working independently and dealing with ambiguity. Able to operate successfully in a rapidly changing, and undefined environment
• Proactive, disciplined, organized, self-starter and highly motivated
Communication & Soft Skills
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and translating technical concepts into business value.
• Exceptional verbal and written English communications and presentation skills.
Certifications (Preferred)
• Architectural Credentials: AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Alibaba Cloud ACE.
• Industry Standards: TOGAF, ITIL v4, PMP, SRE, CISSP.
