The Azure Architect role within FirstKey Homes is focused on the careful design, curation, and management of cloud resources and services within our Microsoft Azure environment. This specialized professional is responsible for creating solutions that are scalable and secure, ensuring that cloud infrastructure continues to drive our business forward and operates at optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
This role also requires experience working successfully with various teams to achieve business goals. Teams such as: Development, BI, Data Services, Cyber Security, App Dev, and SQL DBA teams, etc. Additionally, this role will support as we begin to investigate/test Azure AI and Azure ML.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To analyze and understand the needs of developers and business stakeholders and translate it into a best-practice design that meets the needs and is both practical and well-engineered (efficient, performant, and secure).
- To apply your knowledge and hands-on-experience of Microsoft Azure cloud best practices to improve existing Azure infrastructure and implement proper Connectivity, Security, and IAM (Identity and Access Management) for given use-cases.
- For example: This may involve implementing a new integration or capability between or across multiple Azure resources and subscriptions.
- To utilize best practices and advise team as it concerns proper usage of Private Endpoints, Private DNS Zones, Application Gateways, Log Analytics, Azure Cost Management, etc.
- Help maintain the cloud infrastructure (tagging resource sizing etc) alongside our Senior Azure Engineer.
- Use prudence and discretion as it relates to Azure resource costs and cost management.
- Provide technical support for cloud-related issues.
- Possess a deep understanding of cloud computing technologies and technical know-how, including networking, security, and application development tailored to the Azure ecosystem.
- Stay current with updates to Azure services/offerings and industry best practices -- recommending improvements to existing architectures.
- Drive timely decisions, identify and mitigate risks and communicate status to stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain cloud architecture diagrams/documentation.
- Develop runbooks for processes and systems.
- Provide support and assistance in advancement within Azure Open AI and gen AI opportunities.
- Provide insight and experience in automating various tasks and processes within the Azure environment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- You understand how to identify opportunities for improvement within an Azure infrastructure.
- You understand how to safely work within development, staging, and production environments.
- You understand how to identify root causes and can make recommendations and implement solutions.
- You are able to demonstrate project management capability.
- Experience with granting SQL permissions for access to databases across various SQL offerings including:
- Azure SQL PaaS, traditional SQL Servers, and Azure SQL Managed Instances
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 4+ years of hands-on enterprise/business environment experience with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies. Not limited to only working with a couple of resource types, but most (if not all) resource types in Azure (vast experience expected).
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure AZ-305, AZ-304, AZ-303, AZ-400, AZ-104, DP-300, AZ-500,
- Advanced knowledge of network infrastructure - virtual local area network (VLAN), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), relay agent, TCP/IP
