Research assistants participate in the design, execution, analysis and evaluation of health-related projects conducted by University Healthcare Physicians, WVU Health Sciences Center-Eastern Division faculty, resident physicians and medical students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.Bachelor’s Degree; OR

High School diploma AND four years related experience.

EXPERIENCE:

1. One (1) year of human subject research experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI program)  certification.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Interest in professional development toward future graduate school or employment in healthcare related research.

2. Writing Institutional Review Board submissions, protocol development, data collection and basic descriptive analysis.

1. Assists with academic research, health related program development and community engagement

2. Assists with the editing and preparation of manuscripts.

3. Meets regularly with supervisor to discuss research and problematic assignments.

4. Contributes to the development of project related web materials, educational materials, and social media content.

5. Attends program related community meetings and performs outreach.

6. Gathers and analyzes data.

7. Prepares materials for submission to agencies and foundations that fund research.

8. Prepares materials for IRB (Institutional Review Board) review.

9. Manages and replies to project-related correspondence.

10. Attends project meetings.

11. Assists with program related care innovations and quality improvement initiatives including education.

12. Prepares other articles, reports, and presentations.

13. Performs routine clerical duties as instructed, if essential to the research activities of the project to which the research assistant is assigned.

14. Assists with coordination and execution of academic conferences as specified.

15. Performs other project related duties as assigned by supervising faculty.

1. Strong spoken and written communications skills.

2. Flexibility in responding to new research opportunities as they arise.

3. High personal motivation, self-management, and detail-orientation; ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without direct supervision.

4. Capacity and will to learn new software, research methods, and work routines quickly.

5. Strong existing computer skills with Microsoft Office , Excel, statistical software, and general Internet and electronic communications.

6. Articulate and tactful communications skills; readiness to meet and work directly with clients, team members and community members
