Optimal Beginnings is a multi-disciplinary pediatric practice (Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Language Pathology) that has an immediate opening for a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. The Psychology Department primarily provides comprehensive psychological evaluations for children and adolescents.
The ideal candidate will have experience with diagnostic evaluations of children and teenagers. This role involves conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations, providing individual and group counseling, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supervising a team of well-trained Psychology Associates.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological evaluations to address concerns related to learning, attention, behavior, and emotions in children (ranging in age from 16 months to 18 years).
- Provide consultation to a multi-disciplinary team that includes Speech Language Pathologists and Board Certified Behavior Analysts.
- Administer psychological batteries that include clinical interviews, behavioral observations, developmental measures, cognitive measures, behavioral measures, and academic measures.
- Generate psychological reports with appropriate data and integration of findings.
- Demonstrate timely and appropriate record-keeping with company’s electronic health records management system.
- Collaborate with other service providers of clients (e.g., teachers, counselors, psychiatrists, etc.), as needed.
- Communicate with parents to obtain necessary documentation for review.
- Conduct psychotherapy, including play therapy, with Children & Adolescents.
- Partner with the Leadership Team in directing the future of the department, which may involve any of the following: Individual and Group Psychotherapy for Parents and Caregivers of children with ASD, Parent Support Groups, Anxiety Clinic for Adolescents, Integration of Psychological Services with Applied Behavior Analysis services, Individual and Group Psychotherapy for Adolescents.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA-accredited program in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology or School Psychology.
- Completion of a Pre-Doctoral Internship at an APA-accredited internship site.
- Licensed or immediately license-eligible in Virginia as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Must be willing to obtain a license to practice psychology in Maryland.
- At least three (3) years of post-doctoral clinical experience, preferred
- At least three (3) years of experience in a mental health or counseling environment, preferred.
- Experience with both individual therapy and psychological assessments.
- Experience supervising Psychology Associates, preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with evidence-based child & family interventions relevant to families served in outpatient mental health settings.
- Expertise in the treatment of a wide range of childhood disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD is preferred.

Skills Required
