Day-to-day direct service delivery examples:
- Practical application of group counseling
- Steady integration into the therapeutic process beginning with observation and becoming more interactive.
- Practicing debriefing, one of the key clinical skills necessary to thrive in this field.
- Processing and dispelling previously held assumptions and beliefs about people impacted by addiction.
- Balancing the format of a pre-planned topic with meeting the needs of the patients at that time, in that moment.
- In real-time, recognizing the differences between a psychoeducation lecture style and an interactive group therapy session.
Requirements
- Pursuing an appropriate degree at a two or four year college or university. OR
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in an appropriate discipline
