Clinical Informatics Analyst

About You
As a Clinical Informatics Data Analyst you will report to the Associate Director, Health Informatics, and work closely with our Product & Engineering teams, Patient Solutions, and our Sales and Marketing teams, to build out our health metric reporting and data processes in order to drive decision making at the operational level,improve our platform, and demonstrate program and clinical outcomes to health plan clients.
Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities
- Provide subject matter expertise on claims and medical ontology and engineering support and expertise to the broader team
- Actively participates in large group discussions
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data engineers, data scientists, and project managers to ensure the successful delivery of a scalable, secure, and efficient claims and outcomes analysis engine
- Maintain data dictionaries for claims data sets
- Take the initiative to suggest new standards, implement new strategies, and take on special projects
- Creates functional/system requirements/documents/diagrams that will include information about required changes to data, web front-end, database, web service, or batch processing
- Creates test cases that include prerequisite steps, input/data scenarios, test steps, and expected results
- Your role is key in providing up-front measures of database contents, missingness, variable quality and several other dimensions
Experience & Skills:
Required
- 1+ years of experience working with SQL
- Experience with any of claims databases (IBM marketscan, OPTUM, Premier, APCDs etc.) or data from EMR systems (MIMIC-III, EPIC, Cerner)
- Proven track record of working with real-world medical claims data
- Work experience with large US insurance claims databases, electronic medical records, registry databases for health outcomes research (e.g., Optum, Premier, IBM-marketscan, Humedica, IMSPharmetrics +, GEhealth, Flatiron, etc.)
- Experience working with medical and billing coding systems such as ICD-10, SNOMED, LOINC, NDC, HCPCS, CPT, RXNORM
- Work experience with HEDIS, Stars, HCAHPS, or D-SNPs
- Must be able to meet timelines with minimal supervision and have excellent verbal and written skills
- Experience in healthcare, specifically with Payer data
- The ability to be on camera for all meetings–including cross-functional team meetings, client meetings, etc.
- The ability to travel minimally, as needed
Preferred
- +5 years of experience working with SQL
- Familiarity with interoperability standards in the healthcare space (HL7, FHIR)
- Has worked in a development environment with a shared repo and contributed code (Github, Bitbucket, Gitlab)
- Fast-paced startup experience
- Experience working at a health plan, preferably in Medicaid or Medicare business lines
- At least 5 years of experience in data analysis
- Experience with DBT
- Experience with business intelligence tools
- Documentation, best practices
- Performing complex analyses on big data, including data cleaning, preparing, and interpreting
