About the Role:
The Clinical Dietitian-REG at Medical West, UAB, plays a critical role in delivering expert nutritional care to patients within a healthcare setting. This position focuses on assessing patients' dietary needs, developing personalized nutrition plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. The dietitian will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutritional interventions, making adjustments as necessary to support recovery and health maintenance. Additionally, the role involves educating patients and their families on proper nutrition and lifestyle choices to promote long-term wellness. Ultimately, the Clinical Dietitian-REG contributes to improving patient health through evidence-based nutritional practices and compassionate care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
- Current licensure or certification as a dietitian in the state of Alabama or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Experience in clinical nutrition, preferably within a hospital or healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and dietary guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related healthcare field.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare team setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and nutrition analysis software.
- Certification in specialized areas such as pediatric nutrition, renal nutrition, or oncology nutrition.
- Continuing education or training in the latest clinical nutrition research and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients using medical histories, laboratory data, and dietary information.
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans tailored to patients' medical conditions and treatment goals.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition therapy into overall patient care.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust nutrition plans as needed to ensure optimal health outcomes.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding dietary modifications and healthy eating habits.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nutritional assessments, interventions, and patient progress.
- Stay current with the latest research and best practices in clinical nutrition to inform patient care.
