Job Summary:

The Clinical Applications Specialist (CAS) serves as the liaison between clinical staff and information technology teams, ensuring that electronic health record (EHR) systems and other clinical applications effectively support patient care. The CAS manages system configuration, user support, training, upgrades, workflow optimization, and application integration across healthcare departments. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain clinical software applications (Epic, Cerner, RPMS, Meditech, or similar systems). 
  • Coordinate application updates, testing, and implementation projects. 
  • Provide end-user training and ongoing support for physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff. 
  • Analyze clinical workflows and recommend system improvements. 
  • Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate with IT and vendors for resolution. 
  • Manage user access, security roles, and compliance requirements. 
  • Develop documentation, training materials, and standard operating procedures. 
  • Support regulatory reporting and quality improvement initiatives. 
  • Participate in system integration and data migration projects. 
  • Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for optimization. 
  • Follow all policies and procedures set forth by Echota Behavioral Health. 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Health Informatics, Information Systems, or related field preferred. 
  • Associate degree plus relevant experience may be considered. 

License/Certifications:

  • Epic Application Coordinator Certification.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS).
  • Healthcare Informatics certification.

Experience:

  • 2–5 years of healthcare, clinical operations, EHR, or healthcare IT experience. 
  • Experience supporting clinical applications and healthcare workflows. 
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare regulations, and clinical documentation standards. 
  • Experience with clinical workflow analysis, EHR management, and project coordination. 
  • Providing user training and education.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • SQL/reporting knowledge (preferred).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Follow all guidelines, regulations, standards, and Federal state and tribal policies. 
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license and a clear background check. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Office-based behavioral health clinic.

Work Environment:

  • Requires discretion, empathy, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.

This position may have care of or contact with Indian children.
