The climate & Nature unit of ISS STOXX is seeking a specialist to join its transition risks team. Successful candidates will have a background in both qualitative and quantitative analysis including Python expertise, as well as exhibit a passion for the responsible investment business with a focus on climate change. The candidate should have a collaborative approach to work and a track record of project management and problem solving while working with high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will manage the implementation of mandates and data deliveries towards clients and take responsibility for product development and management of bespoke projects to support the transition risks and opportunities methodology team across its various asset classes and transition related products. This includes interactions with colleagues and clients from around the globe and collaborating with other units.

Climate & Nature innovation lab is a unit within sustainability business unit, the responsible investment business of ISS STOXX. As investors seek to gain a better understanding of their exposure to climate-related risks, Climate Solutions provides data, analytics and advisory services to support financial market participants and governments to understand, measure, and act on climate-related risks and its impact on investments across all asset classes. It is a market leader within its field and highly innovative.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the methodology and product development processes

  • Support sales with client requests

  • Support colleagues and clients on advisory offerings or bespoke data deliveries of ISS STOXX’s climate solutions including support on day-to-day communications, operations and report writing.

  • Conduct climate impact analysis of investment portfolios across all asset classes to support product development

  • Maintain a strong understanding of overall climate solutions and expertise in transition-related products.

  • Support team with quantitative analysis and research on climate strategies of companies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience relating to data analytics and climate change

  • Advanced university degree ideally in environmental science or engineering, quantitative sustainable finance

  • Demonstrated interest in climate change in general

  • Specific knowledge in sustainable finance, transition finance, investment carbon footprinting, climate impact assessments of investments, or Life Cycle Analysis

  • Knowledge of climate modelling techniques, in particular relating to transition risk

  • Expertise in corporate finance and financial (ESG) topics (professional or academic) is encouraged and experience in fixed income valuation highly desirable

  • Very strong quantitative (and qualitative) analytical skills and excellent conceptual thinking aptitude

  • Excellent command of Excel and good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications

  • Understanding of Data science and excellent knowledge of Python is a requirement

  • Excellent oral and written command of English and German. Fluency in French is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customer-first attitude

  • Willingness to work with a highly collaborative, flexible and innovative team across different locations

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
