Texas Public Policy Foundation Clerkship Program
The Texas Public Policy Foundation is in search of high caliber legal clerkship candidates interested in working on cutting edge public interest litigation with the Foundation’s litigation team, the Center for the American Future. The Center launches legal challenges at the administrative, district, and appellate court levels on behalf of ordinary people whose lives, liberty, and property are threatened by government action in defiance of the Constitution.
Expectations
Law clerks will be assigned to the Foundation’s litigation center and work directly with its Director and staff attorneys. Clerks gain real world experience working on active litigation matters, appellate briefs, and amicus briefs in collaboration with our team, based on their individual talents and the needs of the Foundation. The Foundation is non-partisan, but a broad commitment to advancing individual liberty and limited constitutional government is a must.
Successful Law Clerks
Our clerkship class consists of current law students and recent graduates who are flexible, project-oriented self-starters who can work with a wide range of leadership types. Our clerks have gone on to secure positions with state and federal judges, the Texas Attorney General’s office, the Texas Governor’s office and within the Foundation itself. The most successful applicants are open-minded and hardworking, with good research, writing, and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to apply mission-centered common sense to a daily routine.

A writing sample.
Note: Applicants must be current law students or recent graduates.
Compensation
Full time and part time law clerks will be paid a stipend upon completion of their clerkship. If your law school permits, we’re happy to work with you to earn academic credit for your work at the Foundation.

What We Do
The Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, research-based think tank headquartered in Austin, Texas. It promotes conservative principles and develops free-market approaches to public-policy challenges affecting Texans and Americans. TPPF analyzes complex issues, creates legislative policy solutions, and advocates for them before the Texas Legislature, Congress, and other public forums. Its work includes health care and broader policy areas.
