Job Summary
We are looking for a Systems Administration Staff II/III. In this role, you will use enterprise Linux expertise to support enterprise Linux systems in a classified environment. You will support aerospace engineering staff using these systems to perform scientific and engineering analyses that support critical national space assets. To excel in this role, you would be familiar with Linux provisioning, troubleshooting, patching, security hardening, and user support performed in a classified environment.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Chantilly, VA.
What You'll Be Doing
- Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Linux on physical systems, including implementing encryption-at-rest (LUKS)
- Provision Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Linux VMs
- Patch, reboot, and troubleshoot patching processes (e.g. GPU drivers & kernel modules) and patching infrastructure on large classified networks and in stand-alone (air-gapped) networks
- System and user data and configuration backup and restore
- Provide enterprise Linux troubleshooting, tier 2 and 3 Linux user support including software installation, configuration
- Support scientists and engineers running workloads and applications on Linux systems
- Security harden systems and remediate vulnerabilities
- Monitor availability, improve monitoring, and restore systems and services in a timely manner and improve prevention and reduce future outages
- Write or improve documentation for processes and procedures
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Systems Administration Staff II:
- DoD approved 8570 baseline certification such as Security+, CISSP, or equivalent
- 1 year of experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or its clones (CentOS, Oracle, Rocky, Alma) Linux systems administration, including provisioning, patching individual systems, basic troubleshooting, and implement security hardening for enterprise environments.
- Experience with hardware troubleshooting and configuration
- This position requires a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
- This position requires an adjudicated Counter-Intelligence Polygraph.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for Systems Administration Staff IIIinclude:
- 3 years of experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or its clones (CentOS, Oracle, Rocky, Alma) Linux systems administration, including provisioning, fleet-wide patching, more advanced troubleshooting, and troubleshooting issues caused by security hardening for enterprise environments.
- One or more of the following: certification such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator, bash or shell scripting skill, experience configuring and managing access to NFS file system shares, Active Directory integration with Linux, Linux performance troubleshooting & tuning, Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, TerraForm) skills & experience.
