The Opportunity
The Annuity Claims team is looking for an organized and driven individual to join the team as a Claims Representative. In this position you will research, review and process incoming claims with accuracy and dedication. In doing so you are fulfilling the promise made to our policyholders and aiding beneficiaries during a difficult time, all while working in a team centered environment where your ideas can be shared.
Job Responsibilities
- Researches and analyzes life insurance and annuity claims documentation thoroughly to determine pertinent details, including: claim setup, beneficiary determination, follow-ups, review of complex documents (Death Certificates, Claim Forms, Trusts, Estates, POAs, Guardianship, etc.), and accurate processing.
- Prepares well written communication to all clients, internal and external, and conveys simple to moderately complex information to all appropriate parties while maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations. Occasionally requires outbound calls to enhance the Customer Experience.
- Makes claim processing determinations based on knowledge, training, and experience and processes claims according to policy provisions, state regulations, and department Service Level Agreements.
- Ensures that claim handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.
- Maintains detailed files including all claim documents and correspondence.
- Interacts with customer service representatives, legal counsel, and other various departments to aid in claim handling.
- Possesses functional knowledge and skills that are reflective of a fully competent practitioner.
- Performs work under moderate supervision.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- 2 to 5 years of related experience. Previous collection experience in the insurance industry preferred.
Ideal Qualifications
- Previous claims, or annuity related, experience is preferred
- Self-motivated team player who excels in a collaborative environment
