SUMMARY:
The Claims Specialist is primarily responsible for overseeing the Incident Reporting and Claims process to
achieve early claim resolution and avoid litigation in a cost effective and time efficient manner. The Claims
Specialist works closely with Operations, Customer Service, Loss Prevention, Safety, and other departments to
ensure successful compliance and full execution of the Incident and Claims process. Responsibilities also
include collecting restitution from responsible parties, claims monitoring and administration, report
generation, and frequent communication with employees, managers, insurance carriers, and attorneys.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Oversees the Incident Reporting and claims management process; assists in obtaining all relevant claim
information; safeguards evidence collection and preservation.
• Ensures store operation’s reporting requirements are met for reporting claims; strives for early claim
resolution to achieve claim closure; collects money from insurance companies; tracks monies received
from liable parties.
• Manages pre-litigated and moderately complex property claims; maintains a variety of statistical
records and/or claim status reports.
• Builds, maintains, and manages relationships with store operations, Third Party Administrators,
insurers, legal counsel, and other claims related parties or vendors.
• Oversees Certificate of Insurance process and fleet vehicle identification cards.
• Assists in providing claim reports to supervisor and maintaining dashboard-reporting requirements.
• Provides administrative support for the department, which may include: filing, updating and
maintaining insurance schedules, coordinating and scheduling meetings, ordering supplies, and/or
other related activities.
• Assists Safety Manager in identifying safety problems, collecting and evaluating loss data; and assists in
implementing solutions.
• Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
• Performs a variety of related tasks including other duties as assigned by Director, Risk, Audit, & Loss

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential
duties of the job.
• 3+ years of prior experience with risk management, property and general liability claims experience.
• Must have creative problem-solving abilities and the ability to be a leader on designated projects.
