Global Export & Agency Finance is looking for an Associate based out of our Madrid Office.

As an Associate you will be part of the Global Export and Agency Finance team which leads the origination and structuring of Export and Agency transactions in close coordination with our offices around the globe.

Context and role definition

The Global Export and Agency Finance team is the front office origination and execution platform for Export Credit & Agency (ECA covered and MLAs transactions) globally.

The team works closely with clients, ECAs and internal stakeholders to originate, structure and execute tailored financing solutions across sectors and geographies.

The Associate will be an integral part of deal teams, supporting business development efforts while playing an active role throughout the execution lifecycle of transactions. The role offers broad exposure to the full spectrum of ECA-backed financing structures, with responsibilities that can evolve over time towards origination and/or structuring, depending on business needs and individual strengths.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, analytical, and able to perform in a demanding and fast-paced environment, with increasing interaction with clients and external counterparties.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support senior team members in the origination and execution of ECA-covered financing transactions, globally.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including client pitches, opportunity screening and coordination with bankers and ECAs.
  • Drive internal coordination processes across relevant stakeholders (Risk, Legal, Compliance, E&S, Syndication, Middle Office, Project Finance, etc.).
  • Prepare high-quality marketing, credit and internal materials, ensuring strong analytical content and professional presentation standards.
  • Coordinate the transaction execution process through internal approval stages (business committees, Risk approvals, legal sign-off, etc.).
  • Actively participate in the structuring and documentation phase, with particular focus on core finance documentation and ECA policies.
  • Contribute to the development of value-added financing solutions, supporting the evolution of more complex structures.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to a flexible, dynamic and team-oriented working culture.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in advisory and/or lending roles within Structured Finance, Project Finance and/or Export Finance. (Required)
  • Solid understanding of Export Finance and/or non-recourse financing structures and related legal and contractual frameworks. (Requiered)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Engineering. (Requiered)

Languages

  • English mandatory; (Requiered)
  • Spanish, French and German and/or other considered a plus. (Prefered)

Hard Skills

  • Strong structured finance fundamentals and ability to assess transaction risks. (Requiered)
  • Ability to analyse and address contractual, commercial and technical issues. (Requiered)
  • Strong interdisciplinary skills across financing, structuring and documentation. (Requiered)
  • Excellent PowerPoint and presentation skills. (Requiered)
  • Financial modelling skills are an advantage. (Preferred)
