The CHASCO Family YMCA is seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable individual to join our Child Watch team as a Child Watch Lead. This position helps supervise staff while creating a fun, welcoming, and safe environment for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, dependable, comfortable leading others, and has experience working with children and supervising staff.
This is a part-time position with flexible/open availability needed. We are specifically looking for candidates who are available to work a variety of shifts, including weekday mornings, weekday evenings, and weekends.

We are offering a $260 bonus for new employees!Essential Responsibilities:
- Nurtures and engages children through purposeful, age-appropriate activities while building positive relationships with each child
- Plans, leads, and participates in activities and assists with lesson planning and implementation
- Helps oversee daily operations within the Child Watch rooms to ensure a safe, welcoming, and organized environment
- Supervises staff during assigned shifts and ensures staff are actively engaged, appropriately supervising children, and completing assigned job duties
- Repositions staff between rooms as needed to maintain appropriate coverage and best serve children and members
- Assists with opening and closing procedures and daily room responsibilities
- Assists with onboarding, shadow training, and ongoing staff training
- Follows and enforces YMCA policies, procedures, and safety expectations to maintain a safe and secure environment
- Uses good judgment and decision-making skills and communicates concerns or incidents to the Coordinator or Director when appropriate
- Builds positive relationships and communicates effectively with children, parents, members, participants, and staff
- Helps maintain Child Watch rooms, program areas, toys, supplies, and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
- Completes and maintains required program records and documentation
- Assists the Coordinator or Director with administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three years of related childcare experience
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to lead and provide direction to staff while also working directly with children
- Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills
- Ability to understand, follow, and consistently enforce YMCA policies, safety procedures, and program expectations
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within the first 30 days of employment
- Must successfully complete required background screening, including criminal history and any other pre-employment requirements established by the YMCA
Pay Rate: $15-$19/hour
