POSITION OVERVIEW 

Reporting to the Global Chief Strategy Officer at GREY NY, the Chief Strategy Officer is responsible for three core aspects of the studio.  First the CSO is responsible for the leadership of Grey NY strategy department and the three strategic disciplines it contains– brand, data, and engagement strategy.  Second, in partnership with the NY CCO and MD, the CSO is responsible for the development of award winning Famously Effective Ideas.  And finally, as an active member of the NY leadership team the CSO is responsible for the culture and management of NY studio.

You will lead and manage a group of 20+ strategists, across three disciplines and at various levels and will be charged with the quality of their work, their growth and professional fulfillment.  Creating a culture that makes them as good as they can possibly be is something you’ll strive to for every day, and the ethic of pushing for excellence will course through every action you take and interaction you have.   In addition, you will be expected to directly lead several clients and contribute to others as needed as well as leading all new business efforts.

Finally, as the strategic leader of the NY studio, the work you personally impact must be seen as markers, to department, studio and network, for what great, Famously Effective Idea inspiring, strategy looks like.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • The quality of the strategic offering within the studio through the adoption and evolution of the Grey’s tri-skill model
  • Ensuring that the insights and briefs they power are of the highest order and inspiring Famously Effective ideas
  • Be the right-hand of the studio CCO and ECDs – able to work closely with them to take strategic and creative output to the next level.
  • Work closely with creative leadership to help support, sell, to make those ideas a reality
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with senior-most clients to ensure their strategic needs are being exceeded 
  • Partner studio leadership and other department leads to push the agency forward, solve issues before they become problems, and find opportunities to do Famously Effective work
  • Present to the highest level of an organization and effectively persuade others, making the complex simple and the simple compelling
  • Lead and win pitches with authority and inspiration, serving as a driving force for the team.
  • Lead the strategy department, creating an positive environment that attracts talent and encourages growth and development.
  • Serve as a Famously Effective thought leader and subject matter expert within the studio, with clients, and within the industry at large
  • Contribute to the overall agency culture through exemplary modeling of our core values
  • Craft well-written narratives that display a gift for storytelling and persuasive delivery
  • Look beyond your to-do list to think proactively about what client and new business situations demand and make it happen

WHAT YOU WILL NEED 

  • Have a proven track record of doing work that inspires great work
  • Be a proven positive force for change
  • Impressive storytelling and public speaking skills
  • Significant experience leading and winning new business presentations and workshops
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, preferably across disciplines.
  • 15+ years of experience in advertising or related field

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $300,000 to $380,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
