The Role 

The Chief of Staff is the CEO's strategic right hand. You will be inside the decisions that define the company's direction — not briefed on them afterward. You will have a voice at the table. You'll operate across executive partnership, operational leadership, cross-functional execution, and external engagement, often in the same day. 

Responsibilities

Executive Partnership & Strategic Impact

  • Serve as a trusted sparring partner and advisor to the CEO — participating in high-level decisions, challenging assumptions, and offering alternative perspectives before they calcify into strategy 

  • Represent the CEO in internal and client-facing settings; carry their intent without needing them in the room 

  • Structure and drive execution of strategic priorities — clear milestones, clear owners, clear outcomes 

Operational Leadership

  • Own the operating rhythm of the CEO's office — priorities, cadence, communications, and decision-making processes 

  • Lead planning and execution of executive leadership meetings and offsites; develop CEO-level presentations and company-wide messaging 

  • Partner with the EA to ruthlessly protect and optimize the CEO's time based on strategic impact 

Cross Functional Execution

  • Lead complex initiatives that require coordination across multiple business units and senior stakeholders 

  • Identify and remove blockers before they become problems; escalate risks with solutions, not just flags 

  • Build accountability systems that outlast your direct involvement 

External Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Attend client meetings, executive engagements, and major events alongside the CEO, requiring significant travel (~50%)
  • Build and manage relationships with key clients, partners, and investors
  • Design processes to track and deepen high-value external relationships over time
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in high-intensity environments — MBB consulting, investment banking, or a combination of elite consulting and hypergrowth company experience 

  • MBA preferred; but a track record that speaks louder than the degree 

  • Experience as a Chief of Staff, Head of Strategy, or Senior Operations role at a company that scaled fast — you have lived the chaos firsthand and got energy from it 

  • Executive-grade communication: you produce investor memos, board updates, and internal comms that are polished, high-signal, and fast 

  • Diplomatic backbone:  you navigate leadership tensions and have hard conversations with both empathy and candor 

  • AI fluency - you have insatiable curiosity and active use AI tools in your workflow, seeing them as leverage multipliers, not novelty

  • A high bar for disruption: the status quo annoys you.  You approach everything with an intent to exceed objectives, to positively surprise, to be bold.  And you expect the same from others in return

  • Must reside in the New York metropolitan area and be excited about in-office work in downtown Manhattan, with regular business travel; relocation support available if needed 

  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities and high expectations.

  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time.

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $180,000 to $300,000. Please note that the salary range posted reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits or any potential variable compensation programs.
