Role Summary

We are seeking a Chief of Staff to report directly to and support our CEO in key elements of operations and strategy. You'll have direct access to a CEO building at the frontier of AI and drug discovery, at a company with real scale ($300M+ raised, pharma partnerships, an internal pipeline) and real ambition.

As a Chief of Staff to the CEO, you’ll be at the center of how Genesis operates and where it's going. That means owning the systems that keep the leadership team aligned — quarterly and annual planning, board meeting preparation, exec team facilitation — while also acting as the CEO's trusted voice in internal and external communications.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide thought partnership to our leaders. You’ll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive strategic decisions and contribute to company strategy

  • Be a force multiplier. You’ll take on strategic work directly on behalf of the CEO, owning ad-hoc strategic projects that require pulling together resources and perspectives across the organization

  • Keep a pulse on the business. You'll meet regularly with teams across the company to surface headwinds, identify inefficiencies, and connect dots that leaders embedded in their functions can't easily see

  • Drive strategy and operating rhythm. You'll be a thought partner on company strategy and own the systems that keep the leadership team aligned and moving: quarterly and annual planning, OKR setting, exec team meetings, and board meeting preparation

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives. You'll take on strategic projects that don't fit neatly into one function — the kind of work that falls through the cracks without someone owning it with both breadth and urgency.

Who You Are

You are someone who gets things done. You're equally comfortable in a spreadsheet, a board deck, and a conversation with a skeptical executive. You bring analytical rigor and good instincts, and you know which one to lean on when.

Specifically:

  • Sharp and intellectually curious. You bring genuine strategic judgment and analytical horsepower. You can go deep on a technical whitepaper in the morning and a go-to-market framework in the afternoon.

  • Execution-oriented. You thrive in ambiguity and drive projects from unclear starting point to clear outcome. You don't let things stall.

  • Low ego, high ownership. You take pride in making others — especially the CEO — more effective. You don't need the credit.

  • Excellent communicator. You write and speak with clarity and precision. You can present to the Board, synthesize a messy situation into a crisp memo, and know the difference between the two.

  • Trusted operator. You understand the weight of being in the room where decisions get made, and you handle sensitive information with discretion and judgment.

What You'll Bring

  • 3–5 years of experience in a role that sharpened your analytical and operational instincts: top-tier management consulting, venture capital, or business operations at a high-growth technology or biotech company. Experience at or with a technology company, especially in AI, software, or data-driven environments, is a strong plus and reflects the kind of candidate who will thrive here.

  • Direct experience working across functions under real pressure: you've shipped something, owned something, or solved something that mattered

  • Strong executive communication skills, written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree from a top institution is preferred. A PhD or other advanced degree in a STEM field is also welcome.

  • Candidates based in the Bay Area are preferred; ability to travel domestically and internationally ~10% of the time

What We Do

Genesis Molecular AI – headquartered in Burlingame, CA, with a fully integrated laboratory in San Diego and offices in New York – is pioneering foundation models for molecular AI to unlock a new era of drug design and development. We are using a proprietary state-of-the-art generative and predictive AI platform called GEMS (Genesis Exploration of Molecular Space), to accelerate and optimize small molecule drug discovery. The GEMS platform integrates AI and physics into industry-leading models to generate and optimize drug molecules, including the breakthrough generative diffusion model Pearl for structure prediction. GEMS accelerates hit ID through lead optimization and candidate selection by generating promising molecules for synthesis and experimental testing, and iterating this process through cycles of AI-enabled discovery and optimization. We have leveraged GEMS to build an internal pipeline with multiple programs against high-value targets, including data-poor and canonically undruggable targets where GEMS is uniquely advantaged. In addition, Genesis has signed AI platform collaborations across a range of therapeutic areas including Gilead (2024), and Incyte (2025). Genesis has raised over $300M in funding from top AI, technology and biotech investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Rock Springs Capital, T. Rowe Price, Fidelity, Radical Ventures, NVentures (NVIDIA's VC arm), BlackRock, and Menlo Ventures.
