Position Summary
The Chief of Oncology & Hematology serves in a dual leadership role for BayCare Medical Group (BMG) Oncology & Hematology Services and BayCare’s Cancer Clinical Institute, providing integrated physician leadership across both the employed medical group and the system-wide oncology enterprise. This executive leader is responsible for advancing clinical excellence, professional practice, workforce leadership, and operational performance across oncology and hematology services while fostering a high-performing, patient-centered culture.
The Chief of Oncology & Hematology:
- Provides physician leadership and oversight for BayCare Medical Group Oncology and Hematology Services through a dyad leadership model.
- Leads initiatives that support clinical excellence, quality outcomes, physician engagement, and operational effectiveness across oncology and hematology programs.
- Oversees employed oncology physicians and advanced practice providers across ambulatory, inpatient, infusion, procedural, and radiation care settings.
- Maintains indirect oversight of surgeons performing cancer-related procedures and collaborates across multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
- Partners with physicians, operational leaders, and clinical teams across the health system to advance integrated oncology and hematology services.
- Provides system-wide leadership for the development, coordination, and advancement of oncology programs through BayCare’s Cancer Clinical Institute.
- Collaborates with hospitals, service lines, ambulatory sites, infusion centers, radiation oncology programs, surgical oncology teams, and community practices to advance a multidisciplinary model of cancer care.
- Champions strategic growth, innovation, and clinical integration initiatives that enhance the patient experience and support BayCare’s mission of clinical excellence.

- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or
- Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Preferred Education
- Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) or
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of executive and/or physician leadership experience
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical practice experience
Certifications/Licensure
- Medical Board Certification required
- Active Florida Medical License required
