Chief Engineer - JLL

What this job involves:

At JLL, we're seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance and operation of all building systems. You will develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans, ensure site safety, and maintain crucial documentation. The role involves efficient work scheduling using CMMS, administering the JLL Client Assurance Program, managing major projects, and collaborating on financial targets. Strong team leadership skills are required, as you will supervise a team of engineers, including providing training, mentoring, and support for their personal development. This position is for a proactive problem-solver with strong technical and interpersonal skills, ready to lead a team in a dynamic environment.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Demonstrate technical expertise in HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting, must be multi-skilled in other areas such as commercial HVAC-R, troubleshooting, air distribution systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.

  • Supervise the maintenance staff, which includes training, mentoring, and assisting with their professional development.

  • Efficiently plan and schedule work using the CMMS system, ensuring a very high percentage of "wrench time" among the team and meeting of assigned KPIs.

  • Administer the JLL Client Assurance Program (JCAP) with the facility manager and ensure the team understands all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Maintain all site safety protocols, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance, and keep detailed records such as engineering logs and safety data sheets.

  • Be subject to on-call duty 24 hours per day, with the expectation to be on-site within approximately 45 minutes for any emergencies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience.

  • 5+ years of commercial facility-related work experience, including customer service, leadership, and supervisory experience.

  • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs (608)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (TEAMS, Outlook, Word, Excel) and able to use a computer and smartphone effectively.

  • Strong people management, team leading, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 100 pounds occasionally, and climb ladders up to 30 feet.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Critical facilities, Lab environments, and High-Rise environments is preferred.

  • Effective use of CMMS systems, with Corrigo knowledge being a plus.

  • General knowledge of finance and budgeting to assist the Facility Manager.

  • Experience in Museum environments and/or historic facilities.
