BAE Systems is seeking an experienced and energetic Chief Engineer (CE), also referred to as Sr. Staff Systems Engineer or Technical Director, to help lead our established and rapidly expanding engineering team in the CEMA Business Area. The individual in many cases also performs System Architect, Systems Technical Manager, and System Coordinator/Leader roles defined by INCOSE. In this role you will be the 'hands on' technical lead of a program, ensuring the system(s), product(s), and service(s) being developed and delivered are viable, fit for purpose, and will satisfy customer needs, product/system requirements, and the mission and/or application. As a Chief Engineer on a project, you will be the technical conscience of the program, ensuring the system(s), product(s), and service(s) being developed and delivered are viable, fit for purpose, and will satisfy customer needs, product/system requirements, and the mission and/or application. The CE is the primary owner of the technical solution and utilizes and the technical interface to Program, Engineering, Functional and Executive leadership.
Job Responsibilities

• Technical Solution Definition, Viability and Adequacy:
• Leads (system) architecture design and optimization activities, trades and analyses
• Ensures system design and implementation meet technical requirements and customer/mission needs within allocated engineering cost & schedule
• Ensures system design is realizable, maintainable, supportable and testable
• Drives technical risk and opportunity definition, identification, and mitigation/realization
• Technical interface to Customer, Program Management Office, and executive leadership
• Understand requirements, missions, use cases, and constraints
• Technical risks and issues including impact assessment, mitigation, minimization and closure plans

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time onsite. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field or combination of education and professional experience
• 12+ years of progressive experience in the design, development, and integration of complex hardware-/software-based systems (e.g., RF, embedded, communications, or control systems).
• Possess an Active US Government security clearance (or ability to possess TS)
• Demonstrated success leading technical teams and overseeing full-life-cycle development and test activities.
• Experience leading the development of complex RF or EW systems.
• Ability to develop system architectures from concept through implementation.
• Proven experience capturing, documenting, and translating requirements for RF-or related systems.
• Experience in generating / presenting technical information to multi-tiered audiences, including upper management and customers

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Experience in a senior engineering leadership role (e.g., Chief Engineer, Program Lead)
• Experience with one or more of the following technology areas: RF transceivers, electronic warfare, radar, communications, missile/defense systems, or any high-performance RF-based platform.
• Root Cause and Corrective Action training or equivalent experience
• Experience with Model based systems engineering tools, such as DOORS and MagicDraw
• Experience coordinating multi-discipline software/firmware regression testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
