Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Engineer to lead engineering transformation efforts for the PAC-3 Acceleration Efforts in Huntsville, AL. This critical role will drive the acceleration of production rates by championing design for manufacturability and testability, optimizing production systems, and implementing innovative engineering solutions that enable high-rate manufacturing.
As production demands increase, the Chief Engineer will spearhead initiatives to transform engineering processes and production capabilities, ensuring the program meets aggressive rate acceleration goals while maintaining the highest standards of quality and technical excellence.
The Chief Engineer will provide strategic technical leadership to identify, develop, and implement engineering changes that enable higher production rates. You will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and production teams to redesign products and processes for manufacturability and testability, optimize production systems, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Lead engineering transformation initiatives focused on accelerating PAC-3 production rates
  • Drive design for manufacturability (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and design for assembly (DFA) improvements to support high-rate production
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to identify and implement changes in production systems, tooling, and processes that enable rate increases
  • Develop and execute technical strategies to optimize product designs and production workflows for scalability and efficiency
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with rate acceleration and engineering changes
  • Accelerate supply chain responsiveness by collaborating with suppliers and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of materials and components critical to production ramp-up
  • Lead cross-functional teams to implement engineering changes while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to engineering teams supporting transformation efforts
  • Support proposal development and technical reviews related to rate acceleration initiatives
  • Monitor and report on technical performance metrics related to production rate improvements

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering roles supporting production or manufacturing environments
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 20 + years of combined education and relevant work experience (including advanced degrees, certifications, or technical training)
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven experience leading design for manufacturability, testability, and assembly initiatives in high-rate production environments
  • Experience driving engineering transformation and process optimization
  • Strong background in production systems engineering, tooling, and manufacturing process improvements
  • Demonstrated success leading large engineering projects and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and programmatic organizations

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range:
Level 5: $164,900 - $223,100
Level 6: $197,200 - $266,800
