Job Description:

  • Develops strategic direction for actuarial operations covering the following areas in support of the company’s overall business plan and long-term strategy:

  • Actuarial valuation

  • Product pricing (review and support)

  • Validation of actuarial assumptions (Actuarial Data Analytics and Experience Studies)

  • Dividend setting (Par management)

  • Capital Management (ex. LICAT, local solvency, Financial Condition Reporting)

  • Reinsurance

  • Financial projections and analyses (ex. Drivers of Earnings, Earnings at Risk, VNB)

  • Preparation of financial reports relating to actuarial matters

  • Regulatory reporting for all product lines

  • Represents SLF before regulatory bodies, industry and professional organizations relating to actuarial matters

  • Career development, engagement and performance management of actuarial staff

  • Expert knowledge of generally accepted actuarial standards and practices
  • Expert knowledge of the insurance industry in the Philippines
  • Expert knowledge of insurance and investment products offered in the Philippines
  • Strong strategic development skills

  • Excellent management and leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively present recommendations to senior management
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to lead a team independently
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of accountability and ownership with minimum supervision
  • Strong team player to ensure collaborative/constructive relationships with all functions across the organization.

Qualifications (heading) / Compétences (titre)

  • College degree in Mathematics or Statistics
  • A fellow of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines
  • Prerequisite management training or at least five (5) years of experience managing people.
  • Minimum 10 years of prior working experience in the insurance industry, including experience related to several actuarial functions.

  • Strategic: Develops strategic direction for actuarial operations.
  • Functional/ Business: Ensures efficient execution of actuarial functions. Support business objectives and delivery of Financial KPIs.

  • Governance/Oversight/ Risk Management: Ensure Robust Actuarial Control Environment

  • Committees: Actively participates and presents, as needed, matters related to actuarial in the following: Product Steering Committee, ALM Committee, Risk Committee

  • Talent Development: Ensure support in the development of the team members, with focus on professional growth, high performance, wellness and engagement.
