We’re looking for an exceptional Chief Accountant to own our financial reporting, statutory compliance, and closing processes from end to end - acting as the technical accounting anchor and trusted partner to our leadership team.

• Anchor our financial integrity and compliance.

  Step into a pivotal role owning our complete general ledger, Hungarian statutory compliance, tax reporting, and group IFRS consolidation. You’ll be the ultimate safeguard ensuring our accounting practices are audit-proof, accurate, and scalable as we accelerate.

• Architect modern, automated accounting for a high-growth SaaS business.

  This isn’t traditional bookkeeping. You will handle the unique accounting complexities of a global B2C/PLG SaaS model - including multi-currency payment flows, App Store / Stripe reconciliations, subscription revenue recognition, and modern ERP automation - eliminating manual toil through smart systems and AI tooling.

• Direct partnership with seasoned finance leaders.

  Reporting directly to our Head of Finance and working closely with our CFO, you will have high visibility across executive stakeholders, auditors, and department leads, operating as a strategic co-pilot rather than a back-office processor.

• Own the close: Lead and execute the full monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes under Hungarian Accounting Standards (HAS), UK and IFRS.

• Statutory & tax mastery: Prepare, review, and file all statutory reports, corporate income tax (CIT), local business tax (HIPA), VAT (including international reverse charge and OSS), and payroll-related tax returns in full compliance with Hungarian legislation.

• Audit & regulatory stronghold: Act as the primary liaison for statutory external auditors, tax authorities (NAV), banking partners, and external advisors to secure unqualified audit opinions.

• Revenue & payment reconciliation: Manage accounting for high-volume B2C/PLG transaction streams across Stripe, Apple App Store, and Google Play, ensuring precise revenue recognition and deferred revenue tracking.

• Equity & Cap Table Management: Manage the accounting and tax implications of our complex cap table and employee share programs (e.g., ESOP). Ensure accurate payroll integration, personal income tax compliance in Hungary, and correct equity accounting treatment for group reporting.

• ERP & automation evolution: Champion the continuous improvement and automation of our accounting software and ERP systems, integrating tooling to minimize human error and accelerate closing velocity.

• Treasury & working capital: Monitor cash flow, banking operations, vendor payments, and intercompany transactions across our international entity setup.

• Cross-functional partnering: Collaborate closely with FP&A, People/HR, Workplace, and Legal to ensure seamless accounting operations, accurate payroll booking, and proactive policy guidance.

• Credentials & Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years operating as a Chief Accountant / Senior Accountant in a fast-paced tech startup, scale-up, or international corporate environment.

• Certified Expertise: Registered Chartered Accountant (Mérlegképes könyvelő) qualification in Hungary is essential. ACCA / DipIFR or university degree in Accounting/Finance is a strong plus.

• Dual Standards Fluency: Deep hands-on mastery of Hungarian Accounting Standards (HAS/SZTV) paired with working knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP.

• SaaS & High-Volume Familiarity: Understanding of tech/SaaS business models, multi-currency accounting, and digital payment reconciliations (Stripe, App Stores).

• Tooling & Systems Savvy: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills, experience with modern ERPs (NetSuite, SAP, Kulcs-Soft, Navision, or similar), and enthusiasm for leveraging AI and automation to streamline workflows.

• Language Skills: Fluent Hungarian (for statutory authorities and filings) and strong professional English (for internal communication and group reporting).
