POSITION SUMMARY
DEFINITION
Under general direction, and in accordance with the State of California Practice Nurse Act, plans, organizes, and supervises nursing staff; manages, reports on, and provides resources for direct patient care in major inpatient units and outpatient units as directed; and to perform related work as required.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This class reports directly to a senior level hospital management staff member. Week-end rotation is required
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Possession of Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
Experience
Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse, preferably in an acute care setting. Adequate experience to demonstrate critical thinking with organizational skills in performing multiple tasks and priorities.
Licensure/Certification
Possession of a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the
State of California.
BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
ACLS Certification (American Heart Association)
Chemo Certification, PALS, NRP, FHM (unit specific)
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Nursing processes and its application to patient care.
Teaching, coaching and mentoring processes.
Licensure, accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Personnel scheduling, group dynamics, teambuilding and conflict management, problem solving and management techniques
Hospital established policies, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures and Nursing Practice Act of the State of California.
Federal, State, and local laws and regulations governing professional aspects of nursing.
Abilities to:
Learn, follow, and direct compliance with policies and procedures and to develop and direct compliance with unit specific policies, procedures, and standards of care/practice.
Demonstrate a consistent disposition, able to be objective.
Participate in the evaluation process and demonstrate ability to identify behaviors
