The cloud movement at CommBank is going strong and continues to grow. We’re looking for out of the box thinkers who want to use technology to work on real-world problems that have the potential to change the lives of our 17 million+ customers.
The successful applicant will join a team tasked to manage a team of engineers focusing on scaling Containers infrastructure and adoption in the bank. You will be expected to continuously improve the platform through DevSecOps model and improve the security posture of the bank in this area.
The Chapter Lead acts as an Engineering Manager and is accountable for leading a team of Systems Engineers and will have around 6-10 direct reports.

Attracting, hiring and retaining industry-best Systems Engineering talent with positive engagement.

Building a world class Engineering Culture.

Developing the technical, interpersonal and leadership skills of the Engineering teams in a structured way.

Contributing to thought leadership on Systems Engineering best practices.

Technical design, engineering & quality practices; and accountability for adoption across Systems Engineering teams.

Someone who likes to be hands on and collaborate with other engineers. Coding not expected but active participation in stand ups, design documentation, PR reviews are expected.

Promoting CBA and developing our value proposition as a Systems Engineering employer of choice.
Essential skills:
Have a strong track record with leading technology teams and uplifting engineering culture.

Have good system design/architecture knowledge.

Looking for 12+ years of Experience.

Have very good communication skills (verbal and written).

Have a growth mindset and can drive continuous improvements.

Possesses hands-on technical experience in AWS.

Have good understanding of Docker container and Kubernetes technology.

API development and integrations.

Is familiar with various scripting/programming languages such as; Python, Rust (for code review)

Is experienced with tools like version control systems, CI/CD, IaC frameworks.

Very strong understanding of container technology like: Docker containers, AWS ECS / AWS EKS / Kubernetes, container security, container deployment (e.g. ArgoCD...)
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
