Payment Acceptance Partnerships sits within the Client Solutions COE and broader Payment Acceptance team in EBB, and provides a dedicated focus on strategic partnerships, both new and existing, that demonstrate value in different ways for our customers. To derive maximum value for Payment Acceptance and CBA we have a dedicated team focusing on managing and leading the strategic and complex commercial and contractual negotiations with our partners. The team is also responsible for strategically evaluating new partnership opportunities across in-store, and e-Commerce, which extends to associated value added services, such as Merchant offers and vertical propositions in line with Payment Acceptance’s strategic direction.
Your Impact:
The Payment Acceptance Partnerships Chapter Lead is responsible for leading complex contract and commercial negotiations with both new and existing strategic partnerships to enable the delivery of strategic objectives and growth.
As Chapter Lead of Partnerships you will manage and lead the engagement, negotiations and execution of strategic partnership agreements as well as coach and deepen the partnership capability uplift across the team to drive continuous improvement in the way partnership supports the Crew Leads and Product Owners. It’s critical that you work closely with a variety of internal teams to structure deals, execute agreements and onboard partnerships that are typically highly complex and potentially cross-functional in nature.
You will lead and work in a small but dedicated team that supports Partnerships across the Payment Acceptance ecosystem and will report into the COE lead Client Solutions Payment Acceptance.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the partnerships chapter and regularly uplift/deepen partnership capability through driving improved tools, processes, stakeholder management practices, leveraging best practice and adjusting it to CBA’s preferred practice.
- Lead the end-to-end business development lifecycle from sourcing, to structuring and negotiating deal terms, to contract execution and in life opportunity management with a diverse set of partners.
- Create high level plans that enable the business to lead superior execution of the agreed partnership strategy and initiatives.
- Drive project delivery, as it relates to deal implementations, with the right urgency, raise and resolve issues pertaining to delivery blockers proactively.
- Build partnerships that are forged for success establishing a strong foundation allowing the Group to deliver solutions to meet customer and proposition needs.
- Build and maintain productive and effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels (i.e. product, procurement, risk, legal, compliance, finance, etc.).
- Strategically support the product teams and our existing partners with the expertise to resolve and coordinate in-life commercial negotiations. This also includes operating as a subject matter expert for onboarding and execution in line with the group’s supplier lifecycle framework.
- Protect the Bank’s reputation and represent the bank at internal and external forums. Adhere to the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct sets the standards of behaviour, actions and decisions we expect from our people.
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
- Demonstrated experience in partnerships specifically in E-commerce, strategy, merchant product, M&A/deals and project implementation driving business outcomes.
- Experienced people manager with sound leadership and coaching skills and an interest in deepening and teaching/uplifting capability of others.
- A proven track record of negotiating and implementing effective partnerships with evidence of tangible outcomes to support this.
- Superior strategic thinking and critical analysis skillset – ability to conceptualise solution.
- Sound stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Exposure to business development, business negotiations, and problem solving.
- Strong numerical, commercial and conceptual analytical skills and the ability to quickly identify fundamental economic and business issues.
- Results oriented, and motivated self-starter with a strong desire to learn and be successful.
- Understanding of industry dynamics, risks, trends and regulatory environment.
- Excellent oral and communication skills.
