Team Overview:
The IT Risk Team is made up of several blocks with global end-to-end responsibility over the domain. Each block is a high performing, multidisciplinary team of IT Engineers and Business Developers, who work together in an agile way. This is a global team with presence in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Chicago. It is part of a larger Product Grid that has over 30 blocks globally, with 5 blocks in the US.
Job Overview
The Chapter Lead is an expert in their area of technology and a leader in applying that technology to create business solutions within an Agile process.
The position will spend 70% of their day-to-day activities on non-managerial tasks like developing code, code reviews, or working on coordinating with the Architecture or Platform (Infrastructure) teams. They will be part of an agile Block that is dedicated to a business function.
The Chapter Lead will spend around 30% of the time directly coaching their reports. The CL role has a high level of expertise in a specific technology, such as, C++, Java, Data Analysis, Integration, Angular or Python. This is the area they will be coaching the most. This Chapter Lead will be responsible for C++.
In short a Chapter Lead is responsible for the "how" within the competence of the chapter in terms of way of working and people management.
This position is a leadership role to guide IT Engineers (Developers) in developing solutions based on working with the Product organization (Product Owners and Business Developers). A Chapter Lead forms the most important connection between the Product Organization and the Chapter Area Lead in making sure that the IT Engineers receive day-to day coaching and guidance. Importantly, while you provide craft-specific support to your chapter members, you do not manage their day
Job Responsibilities
- Developing code, code reviews, or working on coordinating with the Architecture or Platform (Infrastructure) teams
- Being an active block member, bringing expertise into the block and working on day-to-day tasks from the block's backlog
- Defining professional standards, work methodologies and (technical) standards within the chapter competency
- Setting up interaction and knowledge sharing processes within the chapter
- Act as a thought-leader within their area of expertise, guiding, motivating and inspiring chapter members.
- Lead performance evaluation from their direct reports by coaching them both on soft- and hard skills.
- Perform strategic workforce planning (for your chapter, together with the Chapter Area Lead)
Job Requirements
- Degree in a related field required, master's degree preferred
- years of IT Development experience
- knowledge of C++
- knowledge of other programming languages such as C#, Java, or JavaScript
- working in an Agile environment, as part of a Block structure
- oral and written communication skills
- attention to detail
Preferred
- Experience leading or managing projects or teams
- Familiarity with Atlassian Products (Jira, Confluence) and ServcieNow a plus
