Schedule
- Weekly Catholic Sunday Mass at 9:30 AM
- Approximately one 1-hour weekday evening rehearsal per week
- Candidate is expected to be available on Holy Days, holidays, seasonal services, reconciliation services, Confirmation, and other special Catholic observances as scheduled.
- Regular Sunday service support is approximately 1.5 hours per week for 52 weeks per year, in addition to the weekly rehearsal and any scheduled special services.
- Provide skilled piano accompaniment for the weekly 9:30 AM Catholic Sunday Mass.
- Coordinate and lead weekly choir rehearsals.
- Select appropriate liturgical music in consultation with the Catholic priest.
- Prepare and submit proposed monthly music selections in advance for review.
- Perform traditional, contemporary, and other appropriate styles of Catholic worship music.
- Direct and support the Catholic choir during rehearsals and worship services.
- Provide vocal leadership and singing support as needed.
- Recruit and train vocalists and instrumentalists from the congregation.
- Help develop and maintain an active, reliable choir.
- Coordinate microphone placement and usage for singers and musicians.
- Prepare or support lyric presentation slides when requested.
- Provide musical support for special services, including Holy Days and seasonal observances such as Christmas/Midnight Mass, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, reconciliation services, Confirmation, and other designated Catholic celebrations.
- Maintain dependable attendance, professional communication, and effective coordination with clergy, chapel staff, musicians, and volunteers.
- Demonstrated proficiency in piano performance.
- Ability to read and perform traditional, contemporary, and other appropriate worship music.
- Familiarity with current Catholic liturgical traditions, practices, and seasonal observances.
- Strong ability to play piano, direct a choir, and sing.
- Experience supporting or leading worship services is preferred.
- Ability to lead rehearsals and work effectively with volunteer singers and instrumentalists.
- Strong communication, organization, reliability, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful U.S. permanent resident with a valid Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551).
- Must be able to successfully complete applicable background screening and obtain required DBIDS/base-access credentials.
- Must comply with installation access, security, conduct, and training requirements.
A degree in music is not required. Experience leading or supporting worship services is preferred.
