Overview
We are seeking a talented CFD Software Development Engineer to join our CFD R&D team in Japan. This role focuses on the development and enhancement of next-generation GPU accelerated CFD simulation technologies which also include AI assisted simulation methods.
The successful candidate will contribute to solver development and helping evolve the product toward modern AI-enabled engineering workflows. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of computational physics, high-performance computing, and AI-assisted engineering systems.
Responsibilities
In the context of CFD Solver Development, you will do
- Design, implement, and maintain CFD solver capabilities on GPU platforms.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues reported by customers and internal teams.
- Develop and maintain AI-ready product and services.
- Design structured APIs and tool interfaces that enable AI systems to interact with simulation products safely and effectively.
- Build software components that expose product functionality to AI agents and intelligent workflows.
- Support integration of simulation technologies into modern AI ecosystems.
- Contribute to the adoption of AI-native software engineering practices across the product portfolio.
- Participate in architecture discussions and long-term platform evolution.
- Develop automated testing, validation, and CI/CD workflows.
- Produce high-quality, maintainable, and well-documented software.
- Collaborate effectively across geographically distributed teams.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in:
- Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computational Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline
- Strong software development skills in:
- C++ and Python.
- One of GPU computing languages such as CUDA, OpenCL, OpenACC, OpenMP offloading.
- Message Passing Interface
- Knowledge of one or more of the following:
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
- High-Performance Computing (HPC)
- Artificial Intelligence
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively in English.
Preferred Qualifications
CFD / Scientific Computing
- Experience developing simulation software, solvers, or numerical algorithms.
- Knowledge of finite volume method.
AI Native Development
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Python application development
- REST API design and implementation
- Agent frameworks and agent-based systems
- Tool calling and structured AI workflows
- LLM application development
- Workflow automation technologies
Skills Required
