SUMMARY
The Certification Engineer I supports engineering and product development efforts through certification planning, compliance verification, technical documentation, and testing activities. This role works closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and program teams to ensure products meet applicable regulatory and technical requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop certification plans, compliance documentation, and supporting technical reports
- Research and interpret applicable regulations, standards, and guidance materials
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data for compliance requirements
- Coordinate certification activities and documentation with internal stakeholders
- Prepare and maintain certification data packages and supporting records
- Support laboratory, environmental, and field testing activities
- Inspect test articles and test setups to verify compliance with established requirements
- Collect, organize, and analyze technical data to support certification efforts
- Track certification deliverables and ensure completion in accordance with project schedules
- Support design reviews, documentation reviews, and approval processes
- Coordinate activities with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and program management teams
- Maintain accurate records and document retention requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to certification and compliance processes
- Perform other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Aviation, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field preferred
- Technical writing experience preferred
- Experience in aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, quality, military, engineering, or other regulated industries preferred
- Experience interpreting procedures, specifications, regulations, or technical requirements preferred
- Intermediate computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, and technical documentation
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work performed in office, laboratory, manufacturing, and field environments
- Occasional exposure to manufacturing equipment, noise, dust, and industrial work areas
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and inspection activities
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated work areas
- Occasional travel may be required
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- If a Security Clearance is required:
- Candidates "must/may need" to be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
- Successful candidates must be able to secure Program Access approval
Skills Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (work authorization)
- Knowledge of engineering documentation and technical reporting practices
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and certification processes
- Knowledge of product testing methodologies and data collection techniques
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (spreadsheets, word processing) and standard business software
