FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
- Working knowledge of department policies, procedures, objectives, QI/Risk management and safety standards.
- Maintains a neat, clean, and safe work environment.
- Knows when to grab future orders vs putting in the order.
- Make’s sure you have acceptable ICD 10 codes for payment.
- Excellent phone skills
- Schedules all out-patient exams along with giving prep instruction.
- Understands how to create a new encounter or use an existing one.
- Check voice mail and respond to all calls.
- Understands how to register a client bill patient.
- Understands the scheduling/exam protocols for all areas.
- Maintains departmental policies and procedures manuals.
- Match orders to next day schedule.
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining office supplies for your department.
- Check pre-cert and get pre-cert numbers.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Previous medical experience preferred. Secretarial training desired with prior experience in working with personal computers.
SPECIAL:
PATIENT CONTACT: Ability to meet and interact with patients of all ages.
MACHINE OPERATION: Copy machine, departmental computer, typewriter, and fax machine.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
STANDING: 10% of shift spent standing.
WALKING: 10% of shift spent walking.
LIFTING: Minimum amount of lifting required in an eight hour shift.
VISUAL: Must have the ability to read and process paperwork generated daily.
HEARING & SPEAKING: Must have the ability to communicate via the telephone and one-on-one with patients.
