As the Cemetery Marketing Strategist, you will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies specifically designed to promote cemetery developments across the organization. You'll build deep expertise in cemetery property and sales techniques, moving beyond the generalist approach to become the organization's cemetery marketing expert. Working in close partnership with the Cemetery Development team, you'll share goals, understand business impacts and take ownership of sales results. You'll develop a thorough understanding of diverse customer segments and advocate for their unique needs throughout the marketing process. Your role is critical in introducing proactive marketing support for cemetery properties at our memorial parks, with a particular focus on cremation property. Success in this position will require continuous testing and optimization across marketing channels to develop effective formulae for driving cemetery production.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive cemetery production and velocity by executing targeted promotional strategies for new cemetery developments
  • Align fully with Cemetery Development's goals of growing cemetery production with full ownership of shared results; focus on highest priority development projects
  • Apply customer segmentation research findings to tailor marketing messaging, materials and approaches that resonate with different customer demographics and their specific needs
  • Create a process for automatically allocating a percentage of investment for promotion within development budgets; execute this process on an ongoing basis for highest priority projects
  • Develop and implement marketing materials including video content, point-of-sale displays, in-location materials and local advertising with special focus on cremation property
  • Partner cross-functionally with Brand, Digital and MeM to produce promotional materials
  • Schedule and coordinate photo/video shoots of new property developments
  • Partner with the Digital Marketing team to ensure proper online representation of cemetery properties
  • Work proactively with Operations and Sales teams across the field to develop, deliver and implement a comprehensive suite of promotional materials for in-location use
  • Participate actively in Cemetery Development team meetings to maintain alignment and shared understanding
  • Test and optimize marketing channels to maximize cemetery production and sales
  • Build specialized knowledge of cemetery property types and effective sales techniques
  • Analyze performance data to refine marketing approaches and ensure sales targets are met
  • Develop frameworks that can be expanded to other focus areas such as multicultural marketing initiatives (e.g. Hispanic, Asian)
  • Create compelling narratives that respectfully and effectively market cemetery properties to diverse audiences

EDUCATIONAL/Experience/MINIMUM Requirements

Education:

          Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field.

Experience:

          3-5 years of experience in an in-house marketing department or agency, with a strong track record of developing, writing and managing campaigns and collateral projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

          Strong understanding of branding principles and brand management.

          Proven experience in copywriting and copyediting.

          Experience collaborating with graphic designers, agencies and external vendors.

          Excellent communication skills and ability to work creatively with cross-functional teams.

          Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

          High attention to detail, accuracy and proofreading abilities.

          Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with graphic design software.

          Experience in multicultural marketing a plus.

          Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus.

          Senior marketing experience a plus.
