CCBHC ACCOUNTANT

Summary of Responsibilities

The CCBHC Accountant is responsible for ensuring JBS meets federal and state Certified Community Behavioral Health Center cost reporting, compliance, and reimbursement requirements.

The role will work with national consultants to establish and negotiate our initial PPS rate utilizing historical and projected cost data.  Responsible for preparation and submission of future CCBHC cost reports.  The CCBHC Accountant is to ensure accurate collection, analysis, and reporting of CCBHC cost data and projections, including operational expenses, Designated Collaborating Organization (DCO) data, triggering events, and PPS rates, to support budgeting, compliance, and performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Management: Collect, verify, and analyze financial data from CCBHC cost reports, DCO’s, Medicaid encounter data, non-Medicaid visits, and other sources .
• Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to CCBHC cost reporting requirements, including the Prospective Payment System (PPS) and state-specific rules.  Prepare and submit all CCBHC cost reports.  Be the in-house expert on financial and administrative regulations and requirements for CCBHC to maintain compliance.
• Financial Recordkeeping: Analyze CCBHC accounting activity monthly to ensure revenues, expenses, accounts receivable, and other financial entries are recorded properly.  Review purchase requests/invoices and provide account codes, when necessary, for proper accounting. 
• Billing:  Oversee third party billing for CCBHC.
• Collaboration: Work with consultants, program managers, DCO, and finance staff to review PPS rates, monitor cost trends, and support CCBHC compliance.  Serve as primary point of contact for all financial related CCBHC matters.
• Advisory Role: Provide CCBHC financial analysis and recommendations to management for process improvements, funding optimization, and expense control.
• Audit & Review: Support internal/external audits, review invoices, and ensure timely monthly closings 

Qualifications and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience with a CCBHC highly desired
• Strong knowledge of public sector and behavioral health funding streams
• Proficiency in financial reporting systems, Excel, and data analysis tools
• Understanding of CCBHC services, PPS rates, and cost reporting procedures 
• Ability to interpret complex financial data and present findings clearly to stakeholders
• Keen attention to detail and strong degree of accuracy
