McKesson Medical-Surgical, a $10 billion division of a leading healthcare employer, is looking for a Category Manager to join our Pharmaceutical team in Richmond, VA, or the surrounding area. In this position, you will be responsible for crafting and implementing strategies to enhance revenue and margin growth for a designated portfolio. The role involves daily activities such as negotiation, analysis, communication, problem-solving, collaboration, project management, and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee Specialty Pharmaceutical categories by managing complex supplier relationships with significant revenue impact, and act as the primary liaison for McKesson to facilitate collaboration across various business areas.
  • Develop, negotiate, and implement category strategies that include product selection, sales tactics (digital presence, sales support, and marketing), and pricing strategy to advance business goals, enhance profitability, and achieve sustainable growth.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert to deliver measurable outcomes through strategic initiatives within McKesson Medical-Surgical, evaluating current category performance with a focus on revenue growth, profitability, supplier effectiveness, supply chain dynamics, and customer segmentation.
  • Gather and analyze insights on the category, including competitive market dynamics, customer demand patterns, industry challenges and trends, and emerging technologies to inform strategy.
  • Lead contract negotiations and communicate McKesson's value proposition to suppliers, ensuring strategies are communicated, refined, and executed effectively through supplier negotiations, collaboration with internal teams, and continuous monitoring. 

Critical Skills:

  • Over 5 years of experience in planning, procurement, strategic sourcing, buying, cost reduction, and contract negotiations within a supply chain organization, with healthcare experience being a plus but not mandatory.
  • Effective communication skills capable of engaging with a wide range of audiences, both internally and externally.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel (including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs) and PowerPoint.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects that demand frequent communication and effective problem-solving.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing, supply chain, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is required.

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$83,500 - $139,100
