We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Category Buyer, Raw Singles and Graded Cards to lead purchasing and category growth within our Trading Cards & Collectibles division. This position combines strategic planning, vendor negotiations, and assortment curation with the operational execution required to deliver high-quality, on-time products to market. You will manage the entire product lifecycle, from vendor sourcing and contract negotiation to inventory oversight, while collaborating cross-functionally to drive sales and margin performance.

This position sits onsite 5 days a week in Grapevine, TX.

Key Responsibilities

Category & Assortment Management

  • Lead long-range category planning and identify new growth opportunities in trading cards and collectibles.
  • Develop and curate an engaging, inclusive assortment for both in-store and online channels, aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Analyze sales, margin, and market data to develop actionable buying strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing, design, and planning teams to execute product launches and promotions.

Purchasing & Vendor Relations

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders for inventory.
  • Source and onboard new vendors based on product specifications and business needs.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional agreements with vendor partners to meet profitability goals.
  • Coordinate sample approvals, ensure specification accuracy, and address production concerns.
  • Track vendor performance and report on key metrics for continuous improvement.

Operational Execution

  • Maintain accurate costing files, forecasts, and raw material inventories.
  • Process invoices, reconcile shipments, and expedite orders as needed.
  • Oversee compliance processes such as CPSIA testing where required.
  • Create and deliver analytical reports for leadership review.
  • Support cross-training within the department to ensure operational flexibility.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of merchandising, category management, or purchasing experience (collectibles/trading cards industry preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills (Airtable and Oracle experience a plus).
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-site teams.
  • Experience navigating vendor relationships and resolving conflicts effectively.
