For over 48 years, we've been Hawaii's most comprehensive human services agency. We are often the organization others look to when it comes to ending and preventing homelessness. From emergency shelters and housing programs to supportive services, employment assistance, and street outreach, we're looking for Case Managers ready to do meaningful work and build a career.

Here, you won't just fill a role, you'll grow into one. We invest in ongoing training, mentorship, and clear pathways for advancement, because the people who help our community rise deserve the chance to rise too. If you're looking for real-world experience in crisis intervention, behavioral health, housing systems, and case management best practices, there's no better training ground than here at IHS.

Expectations

As a Case Manager, you'll:

  • Own a caseload and guide clients through assessment, service planning, and referrals — always centering their voice and choice in the process
  • Connect people to what they need — substance abuse and mental health treatment, transportation, and coordinated care with partner providers
  • Show up in crisis moments — conducting risk assessments, coordinating crisis plans with psychiatric providers, and linking clients to hospitals and crisis teams when it matters most
  • Keep meticulous, compliant records that protect your clients and strengthen our programs
  • Drive shared efforts, meeting people where they are — sometimes literally, behind the wheel, getting them to the appointments that change their trajectory
What You Bring
  • A high school diploma or GED (bonus points for an Associate's or Bachelor's degree)
  • Willingness to learn and train but 1–2 years of case management or supportive services experience with homeless or underserved populations is a plus
  • A working knowledge of homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse issues
  • Sharp time-management skills
  • Communication skills built for conflict resolution
  • Integrity, patience, and a genuine commitment to the mission
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-moving environment
  • A valid driver's license and a clean traffic record
Why This Role, Why Us
  • Real impact, every single day. You'll watch people move from crisis to stability — and know you helped make it happen.
  • A true learning ground. Work alongside experienced clinicians, housing specialists, and program leaders who want to share their knowledge and resources.
  • Room to grow. Upskill. Reskill. Make a difference.
  • A mission-driven culture. Our Vision, Mission, and Values aren't posters on a wall — they're how we operate, every day.

Schedule: General business hours, Monday–Friday, with some evenings, weekends, as needed.

IHS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, maintains a Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace, and is proud to be an employer of national service.
