As a Card Services Specialist at Sandia Area, you support members and internal team members across the credit union’s consumer and business debit and credit card programs. This role provides knowledgeable, timely support for card servicing, transactions, disputes, and digital card tools while helping ensure the accuracy, security, and operational integrity of our card programs. The Card Services Specialist researches and resolves card-related issues, performs operational processing, and delivers consistent service while continuing to develop expertise across card products, systems, and processes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Educate and support members and internal team members on debit and credit card products, card features, digital card tools, rewards, and dispute processes to promote a positive and secure cardholder experience.

  • Research, troubleshoot, and resolve card-related inquiries and transaction issues, including declined authorizations, blocked cards, transaction exceptions, disputes, fraud claims, rewards, and card replacement needs.

  • Accurately and timely process a variety of card servicing and operational requests, including new and instant card issuance, card maintenance, PIN resets, limit adjustments, rewards maintenance, disputes, and fraud claims.

  • Research and resolve card transaction exceptions, processing issues, account discrepancies, and other card-related operational matters, escalating complex or higher-risk issues as appropriate.

  • Utilize core systems, card processing platforms, digital banking tools, and other applicable systems to research activity, complete card servicing requests, document actions, and support efficient card operations.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of and adherence to applicable regulations, credit union policies, procedures, internal controls, and operational guidelines while ensuring card-related activities are completed accurately and securely.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Sandia Area’s mission, vision, and values by providing professional, knowledgeable, and member-focused service while maintaining integrity and ethical conduct in all interactions and responsibilities.


Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Expertise in customer relations and credit card maintenance with a requisite understanding of financial institution operations.

  • Basic level of analytical ability where problems are complex (i.e., transaction, loan problems).

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive in seeking professional growth, embracing both formal and informal development opportunities, and demonstrating adaptability to new responsibilities.

  • Team-oriented with a strong collaborative mindset, actively supporting team members and contributing to a positive and high-performing environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to perform essential functions, including the ability to lift up to 10 lbs. as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements  

  • HSD or GED

  • Two (2)year(s) of applicable experience required.

  • Financial institution experience required with progressive responsibilities in operations procedures.

Skills Required
