POSITION SUMMARY:
B Capital is hiring for a Capital Advisory Manager, based in Singapore, to help our portfolio companies grow, while making a valuable impact across the firm. The ideal candidate has an ability to think strategically, operate tactically and listen deeply, while identifying value creation and expansion opportunities. Primary responsibilities will be partnering with the Head of Capital Advisory (Asia), internal stakeholders and portfolio company leadership on their capital needs, helping with equity or debt fundraising, guide acquisition conversations, plan for M&A exits / IPOs, and much more. The individual will work across B Capital’s portfolio companies, from seed to late-stage growth, in our core verticals of Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Healthcare and Climate, with a primary focus on the Asia portfolio. In addition, the individual will be involved in B Capital’s Investor Relations effort, with the goal of helping to grow the Firm’s Limited Partner relationships in Asia. This role requires maturity, flexibility, a willingness to learn, a “player-coach” mentality, and proven record of taking ideas and quickly turning them into action.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support B Capital’s Head of Capital Advisory (Asia) and partner with portfolio CFO and Corporate Development/Strategy leaders to develop models and perform financial analysis of capital formation strategies, including equity or debt fundraising
- Assist portfolio companies on M&A strategy, select potential target companies for portfolio company consideration, and produce initial financial model to justify strategy
- Engaging with portfolio companies’ management to evaluate business performance, assess strategy, value creation, and monitor the competitive landscape
- Assist and opine on portfolio management, identifying exit opportunities and generating pro-forma financial returns for portfolio company prospective exits
- Building strong network with internal and external advisors to broaden the reach of capital advisory efforts
- Support B Capital’s Investor Relations effort in Asia, to help drive top-of-funnel outreach to LPs and ensure that prospects are actively engaged
- Support ad-hoc projects related to the portfolio companies and B Capital
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate is a collaborative team-member with a passion for startups, macroeconomics, and capital markets, and brings a service-based mindset to the team. They must possess strong analytical and modelling skills, but be balanced with a strong EQ. An ability to represent portfolio companies to sophisticated private market investors is a plus, as is comfort speaking to executives and investors. They are professional to their core and respectfully challenge conventional thinking with a mindset towards improving the status quo.
- BS/BA degree in a relevant discipline
- 3-5 years of experience in institutional investment banking from a top tier firm, ideally coupled with 2-3 years of experience in a startup within the CFO’s office or Corporate Development function
- Be proficient in financial statement analysis and building three statement models using Excel
- A working proficiency with VC funded capital structures and shareholders’ agreements would be helpful
- Ability to synthesize and concisely present complex qualitative and quantitative information to stakeholders to assist decision making
- Ability to analyze, structure, and prepare discussion materials for a variety of potential deals · Exceptionally strong in fund raising, project management and quantitative research
- Have an inherent understanding of emerging technology and the business implications to incumbents
- Bring a desire to build a strong network among mid- to late-stage investors and internal and external advisors
- Excellent communicator with an ability to influence others through thoughtful questions, guiding them to strong outcomes
